It's not like the Sioux aren't losing fringe players due to a lack of playing time. They lost two of them in recent weeks with Cichy and Bruneteau. Gardiner potentially going to the USHL isn't because he can't find another college team. Just has to sit out a transfer year and may as well get ample ice time doing it.

Or maybe he goes WHL?

There is a difference here. The Sioux get to the NCAA's every year. They have a real chance of winning everything every year. Losing the guys you just mentioned means nothing to the Sioux because they will just replace them with some other players and will go back to the NCAA tourny next year just like they have always done. This next year should be a down year for them. Does any one actually think they will be down?

It's funny he wasn't happy here after getting in 17 games and putting up the huge numbers.....I just see to much me..me...me with the goofs.

Actually I don't know why more Mn players don't play major junior? Quickest way to the NHL. Oh, I forgot they don't have homecoming, prom, multisport athletes and the HS tournament.

I'm not sure it "means nothing" for next season. Unlike other year's the Sioux actually have more holes up front going into next season and they'll be pinning more of their offensive hopes on younger guys. That's usually not a recipe for success. It would seem that would have been a prime opportunity for a couple of veterans role players to step into those spots. Those two forwards (especially Cichy) probably would have had more opportunity than ever yet they still left. That's not going to help to lose them.

Maybe you mistyped here but he was hardly putting up numbers. The way I see it, he was lucky he got 17 games. He looked like a fish out of water when it came to handling the pace of things. I agree it looks a bit weak to turn tail and run because you are concerned about the competition for ice time. Some of these guys with hopes of a pro future better get used to fighting it out tooth and nail to get playing time because that's how it is going to be as a professional. It isn't going to be handed to you any more like it was in high school.

i couldn't agree more. you cant go into a division1 program thinking that its just there. Every practice is game 7. if you don't pass you can take a seat. If u don't play the game the coaches want it to play YOU WONT PLAY, its that simple. on a side note, i think many people could agree that Gardiner just wasn't ready yet.

My post was a jab........he had like 1 goal and 2 assists. And I did see him play a few times this year. He appeared in 17 games.......and what I saw was that..........well,...... 16 too many, however, North Dakota will be there at years end......guaranteed.

Good for Adam Johnson going 16 in the draft. Saw him play against Hermantown in the state tourney... STUD.

Also, look for Heinonen to put up some big numbers next season. Little shocking to see he went 201, but I suppose being from Delano doesn't help his cause. Once he gets to play with kids that are equally as talented as him on his line he'll do work. I watched him throughout his high school career, only thing he needs to work on is his skating. Other than that, he is a machine.

I would think Johnson will stay at Hibbing for at least one more year. I think Heinonen would be a 4th line player if he makes the team. I think he will be in the NAHL.

Great to see Adam Johnson get taken so high. I think he will stay in HS though. Seems like Sandelin has a history of his top local recruits staying in HS. J. Conolly and M. Niskanen both stayed, plus Sandelin is a Hibbing guy, and is good friends with Johnson's dad, who also played at UMD. I think for a kid like Johnson there is no need to go to the USHL, as he is going to be an impact player in college for sure.

I don't know about the N.A... apparently once his Tigers' season ended he went down to Des Moines for a couple weekends to play with the Buc's. I could see him land a spot on Muskegon's 3rd line, maybe even 2nd, and make a little noise.

Wasn't listed on Des Moines season stat sheet. Not sure were you are getting your info.

He may have just been practicing with them.
