Is anyone really surprised here regarding Edina and their coach's behavior? Edina is full of ex NHL'ers who walk around with bad hair. Oops where is that mirror again?

Though not politically correct, I like it. Taking second place can be worse than not placing at all to the ultra competitive. We used to joke that we would drive over the second place trophy in the parking lot.

Quitting in the middle of of a third place game is pathetic or not showing up for the third game of pool play is childish. Walking away from a second place trophy is accepting nothing but the best from yourself.

I love everyone's comments for those that weren't there or don't know what transpired. I have children that have competed against Edina teams the past six years coached by the two current Bantam A coaches...in the summer and in the winter. I speak for the majority in that I'd enjoy having both coach my kids. These are two guys that are donating their time to coach Bantam A's...six nights a week while they have kids playing peewee A's....for those with a six ounce piece of poop between their ears, does this resonate home why Edina is successful. I did hear from both why they did what they did. I've coached hockey for 10 years and based on what I heard, I have see nothing wrong with what they did. They discussed with refs numerous times their concern with how game was getting out of hand and they did what they felt was necessary based on their hockey sense....anyone who doesn't think the two coaches don't have the background and hockey knowledge to make the right call...don't know hockey. The comments of jealousy and envy smell on this thread...and I can't stand Edina but I respect these two's decision. GB

GB-you did only hear one side of the story also. My concern about quitting in the middle of the game is the message that it sends to other teams that may try intimidating tactics once Edina gets the lead. I know the story also and do not feel it was the right thing to do. It could lead to more teams trying to take runs at the kids once they fall behind.

No one doubts their hockey knowledge and dedication to the game, just think this is not the right reaction to a difficult situation.

This makes Edina a bigger target than it already is. There is enough issues with the kids getting run at when the game gets out of hand, now it could get worse.

Did this kind of things happen before, to Edina and/or other associations in MN? What triggered it and what the consequence was?

He said the game didn't mean anything is why they quit, and they didn't want anyone to get hurt in a meaningless game. and yet they will have 30 scrimmages this year??? so if a 3rd place game doesn't matter, how do these punks get through a scrimmage? The game against Blaine was not out of control at all - each team had 2 penalty's up until Bellows crapped all over himself and his team. Bellows is a punk and so is the head coach. I know for a fact that most of players and parents didn't want to quit.

Care to share the results of your scientific survey of the parents and players with us? How did you manage to contact them all?

Puh-leez. Does it NOT resonate to you why at least one of these coaches is REALLY "donating his time to coach Bantam A's while his kid plays peewee A's?" Seriously. This is a coach who blew a gasket when his kid did not make the SQA team his first year eligible. How better to get him on the Bantam A team next season than to already have one year of coaching said team under your belt.

Two years actually as they coached Bantam As last year too. If you watch his kid play you'd understand that it is no longer an issue. His kid is going to be on the A teams regardless of who is coaching. Kid is huge for his age and very skilled. He was dominant as a first year PWA. But I'm not denying that they both set themselves up to coach their kids as Bantams as I'm sure that was the thought when they went after coaching that team.

totally agree... There obviously has been a gag order of some sort issued across Edina parents and it appears Roseau, as we have not heard from watchdog, Ram Hockey, or other folks up there that obviously know the whole story. It's a small town for crying out loud, I'm sure everyone knows EXACTLY what happened.

I have to laugh as it seems personel now. It is pretty clear everything is political and has an agenda for these coaches. Welcome to the world of youth hockey.

They were just upset that they blew a 3 goal lead with the super team and lost 5-3 to Centennial
