it's unfortunate this thread not only exists, but seems to have a fair amount of interest as well.
The only stat that truly matters is the score. Hockey is a team sport. The players that credit their teammates are the true champions and are the players most likely to "succeed" and advance to the next level - they are more concerned with the big picture and believe it or not, that shows.
The parents charting their children's stats and the ensuing dinner table talk that follows, has produced a generation of I/ME hockey players.
There is not a hockey player in the world that has been offered a division I scholarship based solely on his stats. They have all been watched, they have all been scouted, and they have all been "inquired" about. Oh, and their parents have been "inquired" about as well. That's what is known as the "package" or in some player's cases, the "baggage."
So, in summation, pass the puck, backcheck, and tell your goalie he is the most important person in the world from November to March.
p.s. it's called a "pineapple" - if you don't know what that is, that's a good thing.

This is an easy and important area for coaches to show the manner in which their teams are managed because the information is published in so many venues. A great opportunity for programs to show class as well as the integrity and morals of which the program is based on.
