losing to a team ranked ahead of you doesn't make you overrated, however hermantown was impressive. They buried their chances and all of their goals were good goals. Virginia definitely needs a lot of work to compete with teams like hermantown

Lets be honest, the whole state is down. Hermantown looks like a 10-15 ranked team of the past couple years but the whole state is down so they are like 4th. Virginia pre season number 2 when they are down from the past 2 years. Its a down year

yeah they probably will go to state again cause really who else is good in that section, i can count on one hand the top10 teams that they play in the rest of the season. a schedule like marshalls is one i would expect for hermantown, i mean look what they have done in recent years and im sure teams would really like to play them during the season.
wow same arguement every year from the range, just remind me who's good in virginia's section? also for the remark about marshall you made, yeah granted they have a lot of good teams on their schedule...but they also have been dominated by all of them and what has marshall done in recent years. hermantown continues to play consistantly good hockey and virginia likes to beat up on teams like silver bay
hawks 6-3
comments like your about virginias section show you have no clue. how many teams from 7a are ranked in the top 15?? get a clue! i wish you guys played a team that would beat up on you guys to give your team a little taste of what its like
all the 7a teams are ranked top 15 bcuz none of them are amazing so they beat up on each other and bad teams. Hermantown has proven they can more than hang with the big dogs. if you plan on going to state i would rather be in 7a than 5a. only one from each section can go and Htown is definitely better than anyone in 7a.

Rather be in 7a than 5a...I hope your kinding. 7a has Marshal, Virginia, Falls, Hibbing, and maybe Central. 5a has Hermantown and Proctor. I'd pick 5a!

and cathedral rogers sauk rapids.... but it doesn't matter anyway. u have to be the best in it to go to st8. u can't argue Htown isn't better than everyone else in both sections

Actually, you can argue that. Hermantown needed OT to get by the same team Virginia defeated 7-3. There's your argument.
To say that going through section 5A is equal or more difficult than going through 7A is absurd. Virginia, Duluth Marshall, Hibbing, Duluth Central, International Falls, and even Eveleth would put up a MUCH bigger fight than nearly all the section 5A teams, including the teams you mentioned.

the topic was originally Hermantown vs. Virginia.. result Hermantown 5-2. so the argument of Virginia being better than Htown bcuz they beat duluth by more is flawed. even though it was a close game against duluth they still won and stayed undefeated. one of ur 7a teams IFalls got pounded by Proctor 8-1. The team doing the best in 7a only beat IFalls by one (Hibbing 3-2)

Duluth Marshall's 7-2 game vs. Hermantown isn't much of a fight...

That wasn't the point... In no way was I trying to say Virginia was better than Hermantown. The point is that if your Hermantown, would you rather have to play the likes of Proctor, Rogers, and St. Cloud Cathedral to earn a state tournament birth, or would you rather take on Hibbing, Virginia, Duluth Central, and/or Duluth Marshall? Not sure many would prefer the latter path.

bottom line... only one team goes. the best team in either section is Hermantown hands down
