Hey, any more dirt on who won the 20 CCM/Reebok prizes? Pretty sure it was promoted as a drawing but someone mentioned all the prizes went mysteriously to the top kids. Seem weird? We've heard that there are politics involved but now even politics in winning prizes?
Here were five of the names I heard for the 16s. The announcement was way too garbled to pickup additional names or the 17s:
Jancze
Franke
Pilot
Vesel
Osterberg
Perhaps someone can fill in the blanks after that.

Anyone have any thoughts on the two Forest lake kids. C.J. Franklin, Luke Kohls?

Don't know how they did, but I don't think they won the Reebok equipment giveaway........meaning, they stunk!
The Reebok deal is pretty disappointing. To have pre-selected the team before the final day of the festival - especially when several of the players that won did not perform in the top 20 players over the course of the two weekends, sends a horrible message to the players that did perform and possibly were locked out of a complete tryout.
They should have represented this as a 'product placement' promotion for the National Festival and gave the equipment out after the final day rather than as a random giveaway.

Guess we will find out when the team is picked?
Letter stated....
This is a MANDATORY meeting that ALL players attend to be sized/fitted prior to the tournament!!!!
(The word ...
Mandatory was capitalized and highlighted in the letter that went out to the Advanded 54 players)
If every Reebok winner gets an NY invite, then you will know the answer. MN Hockey and Reebok are kind of in a sticky situation. This event is being watched very closely by many.

you guys sound like the Media convicting someone without proof of anything....its comical.
as for the wait until May 15th, the only thing bad about that is for the players that are ready to shut it down for a while and they probably shouldn't just in case. Also the cost of airfarce to Rochester will be different from today compared to mid May.

That's true, and it is comical.
But it's interesting, isn't it? Tell me you won't compare the lists when they're known.

You are right Jancze, but Powerball has almost better odds than all of the names that have come up so far being pulled coincidentally. Think about it, if each kid had an 18.5% chance to win, what are the odds that kids, including yours, that only kids in the top 20 (and it appears many are in the top 10) get pulled while no kids in the bottom 34 get pulled?
Make this even simpler, what are the chances at the 16s that Michaelson, Osterberg, and Franke all would be pulled coincidentally? .185 * .185 * .185 = .6%
I will reserve any additional judgements or comments on this until rosters come out, but mathmatically things don't seem to pass the smell test.
well

My understanding is that the tournament was sponsored by Reebok and CCM.

by Reebok-CCM Sales Rep
A friend of mine told me that Reebok - CCM received some comments on this website. I decided to register a username and make a brief comment myself.
I want to start off by saying that I am VERY, VERY disappointed in the comments that are being made.
We (Reebok – CCM Sales Reps) took time on Friday and Saturday to fit, discuss and promote our product to a very talented group of hockey players. In exchange for this opportunity, Reebok – CCM offered every single player (boys and girls) the chance to be one of the 40 winners to receive a stick or skate of their preference.
We asked each player to fill out a profile card after fitting and submit there info into a drawing for either the Boys 17, Boys 16, Girls 17, or Girls 16. The players were informed that the drawing would take place after the final fitting on Saturday evening. 5 pair of skates and 5 sticks were given away to each age and gender group.
The Boys 16 and 17 drawing was done by Tom Peart (On site Girls Director)
The Girls 16 and 17 drawing was done by John Peterson (On site Boys Director)
The percentages of winning a skate or a stick is 10 players out of 54 which is approx a 20% chance to win. Since this is the top 54 players in the state at each age group they are all “Blue Chippers…thus the claim that Reebok drew all the Blue Chippers would be accurate.
In no way was there any favoritism or player priority given to any of the players that were fortunate enough to be selected. Every player who registered had an equal chance of being selected. Reebok did not draw the names.
It is unfortunate that when you try to do something special for the players, that some mis-informed people try to sling mud without knowing what really took place.

I am very sure that the blue chip kids are grateful.
Moreover, I am very sure that none of the posters on this site are represented among the blue chippers
(except maybe by Jancze's dad).

I wonder why 18 players on the 16's squad and only 14 on the 17's?

Congratulations to the players that made the National Camp but this is the overwhelming comment I've heard since the list came out. I guess MN Hockey wanted to give some other players some exposure and I've actually heard quite a few of the top 17's are relieved not to have to spend the week in Rochester - initial disappointment until after they saw the list.
We're fortunate to have the Elite League in the Fall to eliminate the need for these expensive trips. I wonder if we'll see more kids opt out of the Select Program after MN Hockey posted results like these. Seems to be an overwhelming common thread in the conversations I've heard. Maybe attend the National Camps that are here in MN but skip the distant ones and save the $$ since the best players aren't even there.
