Slapshot, I'd like to know which team you have seen play besides the Wildcats (they are a joke, i know)?
I know the Ice Hawks just got back from nationals in which they made it to the semi's. A team from the CSHL (which most say is on par with the MnJHL) won the tourney, they had to beat 2 EJ teams with a combined total of 16 future D1 players on it to win it. The Ice hawks lost to this team 4-3. They also lost 9 league games this year, wouldn't exactly call that too unbalanced. Even the wildcats took them for a crazy game in which the IH only won by two goals. Again don't see the unbalance...
Get back to me!
well first off the ice hawks lost their semifinal game 6 to 1, not exactly a nail biter. also this isn't the national tournament for all of junior a, this is for tier 3. if the minnetonka bantam b2 team wins the national tournament for b2, does that mean they are a great team? also in that 2 goal game the ice hawks played their 4th and 3rd line for most of the game, and my guess is that after blowing them out multiple times they weren't exactly inspired to play their hearts out.
Its not a fact of whether or not they are "great teams" i don't know how you can argue with the fact that it is a place where you can play competetive hockey outside of the high school league, your simply bagging this league for no reason. Yes it is tier 3 but they would KILL jg b teams, i hope you were joking when you said that
okay your grammar was a little better there, but I still cant understand what the first half of your post is supposed to mean. please type sentences that I can understand.

exactly, the league isnt very good. did those scouts even convince the players to try-out? my guess is the kids are thinking that it would be much better to stay close to home, pay a lot less money, and play at a level that I would argue is better than the mjhl (Junior Gold A).

They played the ejhl teams not the empire,
slapshot, any mj team would kill any junior gold team anywhere in the state. They are better than 99% of high school teams. I have seen over a hundred games at both levels and after being in the game for 20+ years, i can say that the MnJHL is a good league. It is going to get watered down if the NAHL continues to add teams, but that is for a diff't discussion. If there were any MJ scouts at the junior gold b tournament, they should be fired, they cannot compete at this level.
you never answered my question, what teams beside the wildcats have you seen play?
Any MJ scouts at the Jr Gold B tournament were there to boost their camp numbers and make money. It's that simple. And for anyone who thinks otherwise, I have a nice pyramid scheme you might be interested in.

lakers, lights, crusaders, flying aces, lumberjacks, and owls. i've seen every team except the mustangs and hawks. i'm not a huge follower of the wildcats, in fact i absolutely hate that organization. they have no idea what they are doing over there. i have just been using them as an example simply because im arguing that the level of competition is not very good, so naturally i bring them up.

Why isn't this in the Junior hockey forum?
The problem with the MnJHL is it's an awful league because of the dispaity. The talent gap is so large it makes the whole argument stupid. The Ice hawks are the cream of the crop in that league and they wouldn't beat the top 3-7 high school teams in the state any year. Most of the league would struggle against the top third to half of high school teams and struggle with the top JGA teams as well. The Wildcats would flay out lose to most high school teams and to most JG programs as well. When you have a league that disparent in talent both sides can make a convincing argument because there are good teams, okay 1 or 2, and some awful teams.
Good for the kids who play in that league, I hope they enjoy their time in it as there is nothing wrong with playing there if that's what they want to do.

Well, the OP was an acceptable question for this forum. The thread's taken a bit of a detour since then.
So let's get back on topic...or else it will be consigned to the junior forum, never to be heard from again.

You must not watch hockey then because the Great 8 tournament is GOOD hockey. I think you have some problem with the MJ that is very personal because you are very reluctant to admit that it is not that bad of a league. I bet you were cut from the Wildcats and are just bitter about it.

so you really think that instead of scouting where they are really interested, they decided to take the weekend with the best hockey in the state, and go to the junior gold b tournament so they could completely dupe kids into thinking that they have a shot in the league just so they could take their money and cut them from the team? i think not.

You obviously don't know how junior hockey works. They have more than 1 scout dipstick. And yes, there are some greasy teams out there that will lie to kids to get them to drop 150 bucks on a camp. Think about it... if they get 20 kids from the junior gold B tournament to come to their camp, they will have made $3,000.
You seriously need to get over your hatred for this league. Take a look at some of the teams advancement lists. Last year Granite City finished 1st and they moved 10 kids on to D-III hockey with 2 more playing in the NAHL. Hudson finished in 7th and they have 2 kids playing tier II, 5 kids playing division III and 1 was playing minor pro.
I love minnesota high school hockey but I hate the big heads that some people have from it. Maybe Minnetonka should pony up and play a AAA team like CYA and lets see if minnesota high school hockey is on the pedestal people like you put it on.
