Explain how mayo gets screwed please..... they brought this on themselves.....plus it will be better for them to play in the play in game to help this team get there feet wet in chance for century,......if mayo can win

They Beat Owatonna twice and they are fifth?

yeah i knew that i read the seedings wrong b/c i was just glancing at em while watching this great USA/Canada game...my bad

Seedings went pretty much as expected. I dont buy the #8 Mayo should have been seeded higher than #5 Owatonna by winning the head to head. Owatonna beat JM twice and Winona in their only meeting. If anything #5 Owatonna should have been #4 for beating #4 Winona easily two weeks ago.

It seems the coaches looked at the big win Owatonna had over Winona and ignored the 2 losses the Huskies had against Mayo.
I would love to see how each coach seeded each team.

I bet we have an all Lakevilke final, just a hunch I guess.

I just love to read the posts from the mayo crowd (yes a small m, the way they played this year..its a small m). "Explain how mayo got screwed...I'd like to see how the coaches voted...." Come on boys, wake up; mayo was very, very poor this year and the seed they got they deserved. Now prove me wrong by doing something in the sectional. The way it looks for next years team, an 8 seed will be high for them.

Now that the seeding are official, how do you all think they will play out?
I think it will be South vs Century in a close one.

Although most people say that Owatonna should be 4th seed and Winona should be 5th seed, Winona did finish the season with 17 wins, which undoubtedly means that they showed up to play more often and in general played better hockey, and Owatonna can't deny that.

Mayo also deserves the place they are in because they may have beaten Owatonna twice, but other than that what did they do? There really isn't anything anyone could come up with. I thought JM may have deserved a 6, but maybe thats personal opinion.

Mayo didn't get "screwed", either JM, Owatonna, or Mayo had to get seeded behind a team they beat twice. Mayo didn't beat anyone else in the section, Owatonna did.

The matchups are interesting; both Lakeville schools should be in running time to start the 3rd period, King could steal one for the Rockets if JM can hold Century to 2 goals or less, Century only beat JM 2-1 10 days ago. Winona/Owatonna should be a close game as well for the right to play South.

If Century wins the annual Century/North playoff game should be a good game, it nearly always is. Last season and most seasons Century comes into the playofffs with 3 things going for them; they're peaking, they have good depth, and very good goaltending. Their missing the first 2 elements this season and unless goaltending steals them a couple of games I figure it will be a Lakeville school representing 1AA. They do get to play the playoffs on their home rink and they're better there than on the road. If I make a prediction.... South wins every game in running time; Centrury just isn't playing very well and even when they were South beat them 9-1. If North wins then you have an intracity game and those can be unpredictable, especially when 1 team has already beaten the other twice but I still think South wins it.

If there is an arguement that Mayo got screwed this might be it. It is apparent in this seeding that season records didn't mean a whole lot when deciding the fate of these teams. Rochester JM ended with 10 wins on the season but lost to owatanna( 8 wins) twice, hence Owatonna was seeded higher than them due to the head to head games. Now that means that season records are out the window even being that close. Owatonna had a better record but not by much over Mayo 8-13-4 with mayo being 7-18. However Mayo beat them head to head twice so how did the record matter in this case is what I would be asking. I would be more upset if I was JM looking at what happened to Mayo. They could ask the same question.

why are people fighting if Mayo got screwed or not?? they have 0% chance of winning this section anyways.. If they beat Dodge County tonight they will be humiliated by South on Thursday..

Looks like it doesnt matter now if mayo got screwed or not because they're done!
