Interesting choice by coach Bolin to start Pat Moore. Ness has been playing so well of late you figure he would get the start.

Posted this in the scores thread but will repost it here.

It was senior night for the Royals, and with Moore being a senior, Bolin made sure he'd play. Can't really fault him on either of the two goals he gave up though. When there's a guy sitting back door, and they can make a clear pass to that guy, there's not much a goalie can do.

Even so. Moore is an above average goalie but with the outright title and higher seed on the line I would have started Ness because he has been on his game lately.

From what I have seen from the royals in the past is that they, for whatever reason, play better with Ness between the pipes.

cretin outplayed the royals regardless of who was in net. shots were 30 to 9 in cretins favor and besides for his goal with 1:30 left Gaede seemed a non-factor. Alt dominated the game with a nice go ahead goal in the second to kill any woodbury momentum. makes for an interesting section3AA matchup in the semi-finals in which woodbury will be looking for revenge for getting IMO embarrassed on their senior night. Could have easily been 7 or 8 to 2 with raiders failing to capitalize on many scoring chances

Good prediction on the score. Just no empty netter.

Hopefully not, but, Woodbury could be a quick one and out in 3AA.

2 shots in the 1st, 4 shots in the 2nd, 3 shots in the 3rd! What happened to the Woodbury team of the last 12 games or so? Was Woodbury that bad or Cretin that good? Can someone who saw the game clue me in. Thanks

i think it was a little of both. i was at the game and it seemed like woodbury had trouble getting the puck to the net. This could have been woodbury playing bad but i think it had more to do with woodbury lacking the speed to get around cretins oversized defensive core. Also woodburys defense had trouble getting into passing lanes making cretins already good puck movement look even better. unless something changes drastically over the next week or so look for cretin to continue its run to meeting eagan in the section championship.

OMS123, I think you got it right. Going to add a little more for everyone there to think about. CDH and WBL played a very similar style against Woodbury the last two games, a sort of neutral zone trap. Five players in the neutral zone preventing the pass up the ice. In both cases, CDH and WBL both outshot Woodbury by a lot. In the case of WBL, Woodbury was able to get enough passes through the zone to score 3 goals. When they got the lead WBL was not able to sit in the zone and prevent passes but had to extend and try to score. In CDH case, they got the early lead. The plus side of the CDH attack is to get a lot of shots on goal and keep the pressure on Woodbury's defense. The downside is if you get that pass through center ice, you usually have an odd man rush. That's how Woodbury scored two on 9 shots. Also had luck with WBL.

In the CDH case, Woodbury fell behind and had to fight through the trap which CDH played well. In the first meeting Woodbury got the lead which drew CDH out of the neutral ice area. They definitely got the shots on goals but Woodbury was able to withstand.

So here's my analysis for next week, if both survive the first round. The key may well be who scores first. If anyone gets a two goal lead, it's over. It will not be senior night so Ness will get the whole game. If he keeps CDH off the board for the first 25 minutes and Woodbury gets 18 shots in the game, they will win. CDH is going to get it's 30 shots. If CDH goes up by 2 in the first 25 minutes and/or Woodbury gets only 9 shots, it's over.

CDH can dominate, Woodbury can bend and be opportunistic. I think it will be a good game.

Woodbury got the first score and went up by two. Ness kept CDH off the board to about 40 minutes into the game. CDH got 29 shots and Woodbury got 16.

Keep up the good work. Go Royals!!!!
