3-3 Final in OT.
That has to give Tonka the nod for the #1 seed in 6AA does it not?

I'd hope so.

This is going to be a ridiculous section tournament.

Did Tonka "bring their A game"?

I'd say they brought their "C" game. Only saw the first period, which was pretty even and then the myfoxhockey feed went down. Tonka outshot Wayzata 20-6 in the 3rd and 44-32 for the game. Should be a great section tournament and hopefully they meet again in the finals.

If Wayzata beats Hopkins on Saturday, Wayzata wins the Classic Lake and Tonka finishes 2nd. Does that give Tonka the #1 section seed? It shouldn't.

Don't confuse conference play with section seeding. Tonka is still the #1 team in the state. No one has proved otherwise including Wayzata... which let's not forget has two losses... They will get the #1 seed but regardless their is no easy way out of 6AA....

Seems kind of silly that the Classic Lake Champs would get seeded behind the Classic Lake Runner up. You're probably right that Tonka gets the #1 seed, but this opens up a lot of discussion.

Anyone with more experience chime in here...

Overall records and head to head are more important than conference standings. Tonka will end up with a 22-1-2 record and Wayzata will end up 20-2-3. Tonka also has more quality wins (wins against top 20 teams). They will get the #1 seed

Not going to argue...but this leaves a bad taste. Against the #3 team in the State (Edina) according to this message board, Wayzata is 3-0 and Tonka is 1-1. I believe you about the quality wins against Top 20 teams, but I'd like to see it on paper.

What is the point of the Classic Lake Conference if Tonka gets the #1 seed?

Tonka is 2-1 vs Edina

Tonka's Wins (quality)
Edina Twice
St Thomas Acad Twice
Blaine
Holy Angels Twice
Eden Prairie
Duluth East
Moorhead

Total of Ten Quality Wins

Wayzata Wins (quality)
Edina Three Times
Centennial
Duluth East
Moorhead Twice
Burnsville

Total of Eight Quality Wins

Neither team has a bad loss but Wayzata has one more loss and one more tie.

Hmmm. Thanks for that. I still think Wayzata should get the nod but this will be an awesome section tourney. Wayzata should raise the Classic Lake banner before a Tonka game next season...

Thats fine... Tonka will raise the section 6AA and state championship banner when Wayzata visits the PAC :D

Let's make sure Wayzata closes the deal before we jump to conclusions about the Calssic Lake title.

I started this conversation by saying "If Wayzata beats Hopkins on Saturday,"...nobody jumped to conclusions. Thanks for the insight last night Knowitall.

I would give the nod to Wayzata. Tonka lost to Edina, and Wayzata beat them 3 times

They both beat Edina twice and nobody assigns a section spot based upon one common opponent.

May be Tonka shouldn't have started the season playing 3 cupcakes. Tonka lost to Edina.........Wayzata did not.

And they beat your club, which Wayzata didn't play..... 8)

Wayzata has some cupcakes on their schedule too FF including Buffalo (2X), Eastview and Roseville.

Arguments can be made for both teams to be #1 seeded.

It's going to come down which poison does Lee Smith and Budda (Pauly) want first, Tonka or Wayzata, when they makes up their ballots.

I would say records against common opponents should be looked at very closely.

I don't care who gets the number one seed, but what I find very interesting is that the state of Minnesota penciled in Tonka as the section 6 representative, and as we now know, it might come down to a lucky bounce (or a bad play by a "D" guy)

either way

let them battle it out in the section finals...I would rather be the underdog...

Extremely tough , not a clear cut #1. Tonka could finish 2nd in conf and get #1. Wayzata lost to Jefferson and EP beat Jefferson twice. Tonka beat EP. Probably the lose to Benilde would hurt Wayzata the most and a tie with Osseo doesn't help. EP wins Lake, Wayzata wins Classic, and one of them could be a 3 seed. I think it will be:Tonka, EP,Wayzata, BSM.

Very good point there mule. What is Wayzata doing losing to Jefferson?
