Allow me to shed a little light on this subject. It is completely up to each team to assign someone to update stats for their team. I do this for our team and it is a lengthy meticulous job. The MGHCA site is slow and it is the home team's responsibility to update their game. Most of the time when I go to that site to load rosters for a game, the roster's are not even there, so that make's the job even tougher. Unfortunately, there are teams that just don't have someone to do it. Maxpreps is probably the quickest to upload to and the other one we use is minnesotasportsonline because they feed the Star Trib info for their weekly stats report. I limit us to these three because at 10:00 at night after a long game, once we get everything sent out to the coaches and news papers, then to go out and update three websites it's 12:30 by the time I am done. So needless to say sometimes they don't all get updated right away. If a team does not have a designated person to get stats to the newpaper, it is the rink announcer or scorekeeper's responsibility. Now I am sure these guys are not gonna go home ans spend a couple hours updating websites. That said, if you really want accurate stats for your team, volunteer to help out or get someone from your team to do it. It's worth it for the kids because it gets their stats out there for the college coaches.

This is a BIG job. Huge, and I think it's best to hand off this responsibility to a parent/assistant coach/etc. in a program to see that it is done.

The MGHCA site had a nice setup where there was thought put in up-front to the notion of entering this info. once and then it would be fwd'd along to all the other media entities that the team selected. Not sure how well that's working at this point, but it was designed to remove the redundant need to enter with multiple sites, etc. Not sure why the site is so slow but I've encountered this multiple times and I'm sure it impacts the amount of use.

this should be the one. The technology of the site is superior to the others and moving forward is a better tool.

I am beginning to like minnesotasportsonline.com the star trib site. Finally a site that knows how to rank goalies. They rank them by saves which in turn is directly affected by minutes played and also affects save % and goals against average. Kudos to these folks. You can't have lots of saves without lots of minutes. No more bogus save % or goals against when some goalie has only played 3 games against three weak teams and they are ranked at the top. Games against top ranked teams would be a nice stat to see too. Also the other night I went to do our stats for our game and someone had alrady entered them from the Trib email I sent. THANKS!!

The MGHCA site no longer has the option to send to media outlets. They use the SPORTS NGIN LIVE program which does not allow for that, unless you can still do it form Stat Rat somehow, But that thing will never open on any computer I have tried to use it on. The NGIN program is cool though, you could actually use it at the rink and print a box score from it at the end of the game. You don't have to be online to use it at the rink, however if you can be and your team has a web site, you can webcast live stats right to your web site. When you do connect online later then it uploads the game. No seasonal archive stats though, which is why we still use our own program.

I agree, in this day and age, you need a responsible parent to do this, it is no longer a kid's job, there are too many parents that watch this stuff really close and want it to be right, which is deserved to the effort of the kids on the ice. Get your managers involved in things like plus/minus, blocked shots, faceoffs, etc. We track who takes the shots too, even for the other team.

The MGHCA site uses the same program as mnhockeyhub.com. NGIN LIVE! I think the stats are reported with a better program though. Again the whole key is getting help to get it done for every team. If that does not happen it doesn't matter how good your website is.

The problem with MGHCA is that if the coach doesnt use there website or even use a computer they dont allow the team managers to setup a account to enter stats or rosters. So I think Minnesotasportsonline.com is the best.

Coaches can give thier manager or a reponsible person thier password to enter the info into mghca website. It is the most accurate stat site around.

Yes this is correct. That is what our team does. I use the coach's signon and password. The problem with this though is that I can also see al the communication he gets from MGHCA. They should set it uo so that the stats entry area is a seperate signon. I don't agree that this site is the most accurate though, given the fact that they don't require the teams to make sure everything gets entered. There are quite a few teams that just plain don't do it. No roster, no Stats, nothing. The other thing that discourages use of this site is that it is difficult to understand right away, I do computer work for a living and the navigation and speed on MGHCA has alot to be desired for the everyday person trying to use it. It's really, really slow too.

With that being said, I looked at the minnesotaonline site, and that site is missing way more teams than the mghca site. It is slower but the accuracy is there. No one can make a coach enter the information but it sure looks as if more teams use this site than where the minnesota online site gets its info, it looks like it is way behind in stats.
Oh well to each their own...happy stat finding to all!!
