Actually, back in 1965, Duluth Cathedral (now Marshall) won the Independent School title, in overtime vs. Hill High School, and they had a great record, including wins over Duluth East and International Falls, both of which were real public school powers back then.heresaymatters wrote:1965??? If we're returning to that era, then Eden Prairie would be a small farm school, Centennial wouldn't exist, and the Catholic schools wouldn't know what hockey is.
Actually, the Hill-Toppers beat the Broncos in 1967 (66-67 season), I believe the IFalls boys won 5 to 2 in 1965.MNHockeyFan wrote:Actually, back in 1965, Duluth Cathedral (now Marshall) won the Independent School title, in overtime vs. Hill High School, and they had a great record, including wins over Duluth East and International Falls, both of which were real public school powers back then.heresaymatters wrote:1965??? It was Region 7 then, and the runners up from Region 7 and Region 8 played to see who would make the tournament through the "back door"!elliott70 wrote:You cannot be telling jokes unless you risk scorn and ridicule by posting your own rankings...Stealth wrote:Four teams from 7A, that is a joke.![]()
1965 - the top ten were all section 7.
In 65 I believe it was automatic - oneyear it was 8 one year it was 7.summer wrote:It was Region 7 then, and the runners up from Region 7 and Region 8 played to see who would make the tournament through the "back door"!elliott70 wrote:You cannot be telling jokes unless you risk scorn and ridicule by posting your own rankings...Stealth wrote:Four teams from 7A, that is a joke.![]()

I like the rankings you have here with the exception of Sartell. The reason for this is that I saw Sartell play several times last year and although they were a good team last year and surely will be this year, they havent proven themselves as a top-10 team yet. Other than that I like the Mahtomedi and I-Falls placement.1. Breck 2A
2. St. Thomas Academy 4A
3. Warroad 8A
4. St. Cloud Cathedral 5A
5. Virginia/MIB 7A

lock'em up.
Honorable Mention: Red Wing, Thief River Falls, South St. Paul, Totino Grace and Spring Lake Park

Looking forward to the start of the season tomorrow. Good luck to all the teams. See you in St. Paul in March...

They also lost Peterson, he was the best player Lourdes had last season.lourdes lost funk, spratte, and voigt..they dont have anyone near that caliber returning and have weak goal tending.

Not sure who your referring to, but Orono lost too much talent to be considered a top 15 team, Alex had Hemmingway who is now gone (i didnt hear about anyone but him when Alex was brought up). Cathedral is a top 15 team no matter who they lose, GREAT coaching up there.David Sparrow#1 wrote:BSM yes, the rest you don't have a cluefivehole628 wrote:Orono, Alexandria, BSM (class AA buddy), and Totino should NOT be in the top 14. #1 Breck vs #2 STA
12/08/09 7:30PM @ Breck School
I guess we will have little time to debate the rankings, at least #1 vs. #2
Section 4A making a strong case for toughest section in the state, with 4 schools in the top 20
