this section is not as weak as you think. all teams full of hard workin boys from the south. A lot of the teams are very close in skill level, ending up in a very good section tournament every year.

This section is never really weak as anyone thinks it is. Although, this year it may be a bit weaker. Losing alot of skilled players due to graduation.
The team that I would pick to contend for the title would be Faribault and Red Wing.
NPHockey27- Who is this goaltender from Lakeville South you speak of? And, what are his reasons for coming?

How could you tell what he was talking about? I before E, except after C, Drop the E when adding ING, Than and Then are different, For is not the same as From. I hope that's not an example of NP education!
I think he was talking about Jake Gustafson.

Ha Ha. I kind of had to guess what he was getting at.
**You can't really judge the NP education system on one person.

Is it true that Darren Lapic, the little brother who also skated on the first line is leaving New Prague next year to play juniors?

I have not heard that. I do know he was drafted in the late rounds by Topeka in the NAHL, but a lot of players get drafted who won't play in the league.
His brother, I've been told, will be playing with former teammate Seth Ambroz in Omaha next year.

He was not at Topekas tryout camp in Somerset which had some of the draft picks and returning players. Maybe he will be at their Chicago camp

Rumors are true!
Darrin Lapic is not coming back to play for the New Prague Trojans. Don't ask, I don't know where he is going but it is not New Prague. (Talked to a NP dad at a camp, hopefully he knew what he was talking about......)
It's true

Heard from a good source it is true.
I'm not close enough to the situation to comment, but will ask the question. Any chance this might be a case of addition by subtraction?

With this rumor verified who does New Prague have for scoring? I know that they are returning 3 of their 4 top defense and goalie but what about offense?!

They will be way down from last year. yes they do return a lot of defense. but besides Olson (i think thats his name) none of them were that good.
they will be a weaker team. they lose all their scoring. their 2nd and 3rd lines last year didnt have any guys that i see as becoming big goal scorers.

HAHA! The reason you don't think any of the 2nd or 3rd liners are any good is because they were out there about 5 minutes each game. T Lapic, D Lapic and Adams last year were on the ice practically 2 of the 3 periods last year.
Olson is good. Adams is good. Corr is good. Meyer is good.
Lets not forget the goalie! He is a sophomore! ONE YEAR OF VARSITY ALREADY UNDER HIS BELT!!!
This team is not going to be bad. The games are going to be like watching paint dry though because they won't be able to score, but neither will the other team.

New Prague will be sound defensively... returning 4 defensemen that all played regularly last year. The 5th defenseman is a talented junior that was out with a knee injury all of 08-09. If their goaltending plays up to it's potential, they will be tough to score on.
Offensively, losing the Lapics and Adams will definitely leave a hole, but these kids work their tails off. If they can get some decent production from their returners, they'll be just fine.
Section 1a is totally up for grabs this year. It'll more than likely be (in any order) Faribault, Lourdes, Red Wing, West & New Prague duking it out. Northfield & Albert Lea will be capable of upsets come section time. East will be better this year. I don't know much about LaCrescent, Austin or Waseca, but they'll have much to prove.

This will be a 3 team race. Faribault returns a nice group from last year. Will be very strong team. Lourdes lost a lot of scoring and defense. Still have some nice players returning and there goalie. Red Wing lost some good players, all of there starting defense. Return 2 of the top 3 in scoring and there goalie.
1 Faribault
2 Lourdes
3 Red Wing
4 All the rest

Lourdes lost a lot of seniors and almost all of their scoring.
they have a new group of freshman & sophmores that should help,
they have no one returning that can put the puck in the net. Only defensemen returning that was good last year is Vessel.
new freshman sophmores that will play at forward are Funk, Nicolay, Nellans Samuelson, Farrell, Vessel then add Chezick Kurth Wasz and you have your top three lines. They may compete for section 1, but are no where close to last year team. New Coach may also be a issue.

If correct, the new coach was the asst. 3 years ago?? then an asst. last year and knows the boys well so not sure that it will be an issue. He will get the most he can from this young group and will look forward to the future as they develop.
