I heard from a source I consider to be pretty reliable that the high school league is considering the addition of Shattuck-St. Mary's school to an existing section and allowing them to compete annually for the tourney.
Thoughts? Does this sound insane to anyone but me?
If you wanted to do something to make people feel sorry for the private schools, this would be it.
But I don't buy it.

Shattuck is a member of the MSHSL and have sports that play in section and state tournaments; they combine with Bethlehem Academy to field a decent baseball team. I could see them adding a high school hockey team at their AAA or AA level, those teams already plays Minnesota high school teams and Junior Gold teams regularly. Of course they'd have to abide by MSHSL rules but at that level I don't think it would be an issue. I see no way they'd put their prep team in the MSHSL, it wouldn't benefit them at all.
I don't think they'd join the MSHSL though but given the economy you never know.

Shattuck hockey wouldn't join the MSHSL and cut the number of games they can play by more than half. That is part of the reason they left in the first place.

If I had to guess it would be 4 this afternoon. I believe that's when the officees close today. They in the past post them before they leave for the day to avoid complaints until tomorrow.

Doesn't look like much changed at all.
St Thomas still in 4A
Chanhassen in 2A
East Ridge in 4A
That page seems to be screwed up at this point though - the section #'s are wrong on some.

5A gained a few teams. Rogers, St. Micheal Albertville, and Meadow Creek Christian.

Section 3A sure looks like a tough one.

One thing I did notice is that EAST RIDGE will be playing in 4A. Should be interesting how the Woodbury kids are split.
anyone else wonder why St Thomas is staying A?

Section 3A
These three became independent programs from being a coop of three?
Sleepy Eye
Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's
Springfield
Good for them but that must become a challenge to field three competitive teams and a JV program each now?
Moved Willmar and Litchfield back to 6A, they must be ticked to move out of 3A?

Not surprised at all by STA, that's just the way it's going to be. East Ridge doesn't have a senior class next year so the split will not be in huge effect next year as much as it will with the youth kids splitting, that does make them small enough to be class A school for now though, the new Chanhassen school was listed in class A as well. Someone claimed they would not be having their own hockey program next year...Looks like they are as they are in section 2A.

They could do it after one season. If I remember right Lakeville South when they opened was a single A school year one but for the second year they played AA for sections. I think the MSHSL worked with them because of not having a senior class their first year as well, perhaps same will be done here.

Looks like the path to State just got a whole lot easier for Tartan.....No more Johnson!
