Actually he suffered a back injury and got 2 different opinions. They said that he can play but he is putting himself at risk to worsen it. Everyone feared that his season was in fact over. Ive heard this straight from a number of different players on the team. As for your big games idea, he has proved himself against some of the top competition for example holding Edina to 1 goal under a ton of pressure playing on fsn and in front of a ton of fans, allowing 1 goal against Blaine in a sold out Fogerty.. how much did MG goalie allow against Blaine?? and has Maple Grove played any big games outside the conference? I dont think soIMHO wrote:What's the injury? It can't be that bad if he hasn't missed a game. I'm not saying he's not a great goalie and he's played in some huge Youth Hockey games. The difference is now he's playing against big boys. The other thing is, as Blaine would surely tell you, Centennial's defense ain't the greatest. This was obvious the first time they squared off against MG this season in a tight 2-1 win for the Cougars. For Centennial to win Tuesday they need a goalie that is 100% physically and mentally. For whatever reason, injury not withstanding, that is not currently the case.GR8-justoffthepost wrote:Did you know that Cents goalie is playing with a injury suffered before the Blaine game I do believe.
Let me say it again, he's a great goalie and will likely play after high school. Unfortunately, unless his defense steps it up 2-3 notches to help him through this, advantage Maple Grove in the quarter finals.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure you'll let me know on Wednesday. Win, lose, or draw it should be a good one.
That's right, your 1st line isn't supposed to lead your team in scoring throughout the year (sarcasm)BIGSEXY wrote:Ah, well now I'm convinced....I was thinking more along the lines of the entire season as opposed to a single game.icedad wrote:In MG's last win over Centennial:BIGSEXY wrote:Does Maple Grove really get much scoring from anything but that first line against quality opponents? I keep hearing about all this depth....
2 goals 2nd line
1 goal 3rd line
2 goals 1st line
(in that order)
Your answer, YES.
I don't think I said anything about a team's 1st line being its leading scorers....Top teams also get consistent scoring from their second and sometimes even third lines and I hadn't seen that from Maple Grove.HockeyGuy81 wrote:That's right, your 1st line isn't supposed to lead your team in scoring throughout the year (sarcasm)BIGSEXY wrote:Ah, well now I'm convinced....I was thinking more along the lines of the entire season as opposed to a single game.icedad wrote: In MG's last win over Centennial:

Good call, a little broad though hahIndians forever wrote:cent by 2 goals....
Well, we were both right. Centennial won and it was one heck of a game!!!IMHO wrote:If I'm wrong, I'm sure you'll let me know on Wednesday. Win, lose, or draw it should be a good one.
speaking of fans where were the MG fans?? i mean really they had absolutely no one thereminnesotaice wrote:i agree, MG definitely had their chance. Both goalies let up some weak goals. When the score was 4-3 i was suprised the centennial fans were still doing the "Sieve" chant.
I watched both 5AA games tonight and goaltending was the obvious difference between the two matchups. Hats off to the Osseo goalie for keeping your team in the game!
i heard from an Osseo dad that there was the big rivalry basketball game Osseo vs Maple Grove. There were very few Osseo fans as wellKing of the Pond wrote:speaking of fans where were the MG fans?? i mean really they had absolutely no one thereminnesotaice wrote:i agree, MG definitely had their chance.
