I also think Esse knows what he's doing, gets the most out of his players, and will play the type of style that takes away seams, bodies after the play, and plays smart and tough. C-E-C needs to stay out of the box though, PK is kind of terrible! Also Cloquet is always notorious for being one of the best teams in the state at blocking shots. I will say Roy gets a goal or two, the kids got mad skills and is playing with heart now. Cloquet's first line will matchup well against ER's IMO. It will come down to what Cloquet's 2nd and 3rd lines will bring to the table.

And as a Cloquet fan I want East to beat Flake, and DE's fans will hopefully stay after and root for their rivals! Everyone wants to see a DE-CEC final the DECC would surely be a sight to see for that one!
Esse can do what he wants to get his players ready the elks have the legendary Tony Sarsland to get them ready. The elks can play physical even though they are undersized there speed will also be a factor for the jacks
ER...well coached, hard working, positionally sound...same goes for Cloquet, but ER defeated Centennial and Blaine the second time around in NWSC play...and should handle the Jacks...in addition, they play the 2pm game, making the bus ride a little easier for ER. I'm going 4-1 ER.

This will be the biggest upset in the sections so far. Cloquet 6 ER 2. Call me crazy, but that's my prediction.

Hey, I'll be staying for the second game. Might even be able to find something in purple to wear. Or Gold. Would a gold-colored Vikings hat get me on that side? Image

Cloquet seems to come up with these amazing games when no one thinks they'll win or on paper (whatever that saying is...)

I'm going with Paul Buyan's kids. They beat the Elks 2-0.

Well then! I guess I just could dive off the deep end...

As I insinuated in my first post, I do believe times are changing, and new tides are turning. Meaning...Elk River's coin lands on the opposite side this year and they come out with a W in the semis. I agree with hockey59 that it will make a difference being the 2pm game instead of noon for the boys on the road trip. Tony's working with some kids who know how not only work hard as his team traditionally does, but also how to get W's when they really want one.

Want my prediction for the Elk River/Duluth East game too while I'm at it?

:) Oh just kidding...

Elk River is a solid team; every loss has been close, including to Edina, Holy Angels, and Duluth East. They tied Maple Grove and beat Blaine and Centennial the second time around. Being from Blaine, I don't know much about CEC but I know they are always dangerous. ELKS 4 JACKS 2 en.

As much as everyone thinks East is cheering for Cloquet here... thats not the case, everyone at East know Cloquet is a different come sections. None the less, Nobody cares all that much... On a good night we can beat anyteam in 7AA and hang or beat any team in the STATE. We will see you at the X... I'll take the Elks 3-2 in a nail biter. any

East cheering for Cloquet? You must be kidding me.

It won't matter as the Elks will dominate. Cloquet was lucky to get out of the GR game alive, they won't be so lucky this time.

Paul Bunyan was born in Akeley, spent his adult life in Bemidji and retired and is buried in Kelliher.
After his death, his wife went home to Hackensack and is buried there along with their son.

Hanging the rest of the teams in the state is probably a little too violent, even for hockey.

6-1 Elks
So your saying that weren't suppose to beat Osseo or Champlin Park??? Losses to these teams should give the CEC fans hope that they can pull out a victory over the Elks.

As much as I like to root for the underdogs I still have to side with one of our NWSC foes.

Elks win 5-2

GO CLOQUET!! I mean who doesn't want to see a East vs. Cloquet final?!? I dont want to go overboard here but even Stuart Scott on ESPN was wearing a lumberjacks jersey on the air the other day

Logic would tell me that the Elks are going to take care of business and win handily.

But, I'm gonna go with the Jacks 4 - 3 in OT. Based only on the fact that their logo is awesome. :)

The stocks will be set up in the DECC parking lot.
Hey, it's been a while since the last state tourney appearance from the East perspective. Do you blame us too much for taking drastic measures to ensure that righteousness is restored to 7AA? :D

As for the game, assuming an East win, I will be marginally rooting for the Jacks, because I do want revenge from last year. I wouldn't get too carried away, though; if I were at the DECC, I'd probably be sitting behind one of the goals and watching in silence. Doing anything more would just be too hard, for me at least.

Do they still show hockey highlights on Sportscenter? I haven't watched Sportscenter in well over a year - NHL on the Fly is the ticket!

And go Jacks...have to root for the alma mater even if it's not realistic. 2-1 Jacks in OT. Shots 45-10 ER.

No Casey, East fans ARE cheering for Cloquet. Revenge is best served cold, ice cold. In this case at least ;)

Elks 4
Jacks 1

If Tony's broken rib is healed so he can yell "Body" louder,
Elks 30 Jacks 1

Hey, if they want to be disappointed twice in one week instead of just once, that's fine with us! :)

Pretty sure your making a joke that doesnt make sense. So the joke was you will beat Elk then Us correct? But if we are cheering for YOU then Elk wins, (aka 1st dissapointment) that means you cant beat us.
