I don't see how you can't give it to the highest scoring player in the storied history of high school hockey in the "State of Hockey".

I got to admit, I was thinking the same thing when reading this topic and its replies. He's lucky he doesn't (didn't

) play for Hill.

Biased voters, Hanowski should win, but I could still see them giving it to Lee because he's Anders Lee and plays for Edina.

Those that vote tend to be associated with older players and not as concerned with those things. They are (not all voters) looking at qualities that will make for good college/NHL players.

You are absolutely correct if he was playing for Hill he would not even be playing high school hockey anymore and not in the running for Mr. Hockey. I thought they looked at the overall picture, leadership, school, and hockey.

My vote would go to Hanowski or Pitlick.

I'm not saying Lee should or should not win, but why does where Lee plays matter? How many undeserving Edina players have won the award?

None. Deserving or undeserving, for that matter.

You can weed out these kids. Not in the same league as the others on the list.
thank you

Exactly. The notion that Edina players get preferential treatment when it is time for Mr. Hockey has no merit whatsoever.

I like Izaak Berglund - Little Falls, at this point probably will be the highest possible NHL draft pick in Mn. Certainly a deserving candidate. I understand the NHL scouts are involved in this process, but to what degree I dont know. Good luck to all......

Shooter 57 Bergland is having a nice year, I'm not sure you meant that he is the potentially highest MN NHL draft pick this year but if you did you better go check again. There are about 20 players listed way ahead of Bergland. Leddy WILL be the first MN player drafted this year with good reason.

the new one, Leddy might not be first, some team might risk it with Budish or go with Mattson(possible, but unlikely).

I think another thing to take into consideration is where the players are off to college. In the past its been all about U of M and the WCHA schools. In that department Leddy and Mattson have the vote, but overall I think Lee should get it. What are your thoughts about that?

If they gave it to Budish, I'd be thrilled but would never hear the end of it because he hasn't played a game this year.
Mattson nor Hanowski will not win it because they are going to the wrong schools (this is traditionally a Gopher recruit award)
Leddy is your guy. He is deserving and is going to be a Gopher.

No offense to Lee because he's a great player but if he wins.....I think they'll have to reconsider what it is you have to do exactly to win this award because their are better qualified guys

2008 - Aaron Ness, D - Minnesota Golden Gophers (Roseau Rams)
2007 - Ryan McDonagh, D - Wisconsin Badgers (Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders)
2006 - David Fischer, D - Minnesota Golden Gophers (Apple Valley Eagles)
2005 - Brian Lee, D - Ottawa Senators (North Dakota Fighting Sioux/Moorhead Spuds)
Two trends:
1) Defenseman
2) WCHA
Leddy.

Budish hasn't touched a puck all year. That'd be some come from behind victory.

What's it like to be an idiot
IF Berglund is the highest NHL draft pick to come from a Minnesota HS, that will be the day I stop posting.
