Watch out Virginia is right, if they let Hibbings top players start moving their feet early this game could get out of hand. I don't know what Virginia has to do to stop Hibbing, but I hope their coach does. Hibbing is the real deal, expect them to win by three or four tonight, but good luck Virginia I'm on your side for this game.

Congrats to the Jackets! This should help them out in getting the number one seed come sections. At this point in the season, they look like the team to beat in 7a. Anybody have the scoring summary from the game?

Attended this game....Place was packed...Fantastic Win for the Jackets...The Team to beat in Section 7A....I will say this though....Virginia Fans have to be the most classless fans I have ever seen in my life...They were Complaining to the cop on site because the Hibbing Students were sitting in front of them and Standing...yet they never realized that they parked themselves in the Hibbing Student Section, and then after they moved the heckled the Hibbing students all night long...One woman got the point where she got kicked out by the police because of said heckling....That's Really Classy Virginia fans...you all need to grow the hell up.

It never fails. Virginia alway's sits in the other teams student section and I thought it was funny when one of the devils players got laid out and the students started cheering and some parent started yelling at the students. Anyways big win for the Jackets and I think they are the team to beat but remember they still have dates at Virginia and Falls which are games they should win but we can't declare them champs yet.

As much as I respect both teams and good cheering. I dont know how you can say Virginia showed no class? The tackle occured because a Hibbing student decided to flick off an entire section of Virginia fans, thats no class. And when a Virginia player gets cheapshotted from behind which should have been a 10 minute major and is down hurt and Hibbings students are chanting calling him a PLEASE BAN ME. Thats no class. No class by Hibbing!

That's part of High School Rivalries that are Huge Like Hibbing-Virginia... What isnt Classy is Virginia Parents Heckling the Student section who are trying to support their Squad by Bitching the Cops about there cheers.

Jamnick was stuffed by lusting 3 times on a breakaway and each time the virginia fans started chanting OVERATED! But in the end Jamnick had more pts than Virginia had goals. I think Jamnick has established himself as best player in the section.

I didn't think this was that great of a game to watch (from a pure hockey perspective, great atmoshpere though). There was somebody in the penalty box nearly the entire game. It turned into a battle of special teams. The game had no flow.
There were two 5 minute major penalties, two game DQ's, a ten minute misconduct, a double minor, and 17 minors. There was 4:41 of 5-on-5 time in the first period and only 1:30 in the second period. The third was a little better, but still nearly half of it was powerplay. Overall 58 minutes of penalties. The game just wasn't that chippy to justify that many penalty minutes. The second period took nearly an hour to play.
Jamnick was the best player on the ice, hands down. Lustig stopped him on four shorthanded breakaways or this could have been over in the 2nd period. Jamnick also hit the crossbar once on a powerplay in the 2nd period. Lustig had a very good game for Virginia. Tromp wasn't bad for Hibbing as he robbed a couple of Virgnia chances as well. Westin had a good game for Virginia with a goal and a few good chances, including a post in the first period. Unfortunately, the officials were the biggest center of attention, which is too bad for a game that had much more potential.
With the win, Hibbing should have the #1 seed in 7A, barring a major meltdown. They have wins over Virginia, I Falls, and Duluth Marshall now, and even if they were to lose their two remaining matchups with Virginia and I Falls, I don't see them dropping down.

what? no phantom assists for Hendrickson we will be watching his stats very closely
he got layed out several times. lol tryed to ape, but could only muster feeble, cheap attemps...
Lustig is a class act and heck of a tender tho
Something should be done with that kind of poor, bush league, we are the show officiating! a disgrace! who were them bums anyway?

2 of the refs were Zuehlkie of Greenway and some random Perpich guy. Don't know the 3rd. Had a stache and refs quite a few games. I forget what people call him, he reffed the section finals last year.
And lustig was outstanding, he kept Virginia in the game.

the game was not that good to watch no flow as mentioned and a penalty filled affair. I would really like to see what this game would be like with some of the better players getting more 5-5. overall i think hibbing was by far the better looking team that day and the game easily could have been 7-2 if lustig hadnt stopped the 3 breakaways and jamnick hitting the post.
Also PuckRanger Hibbing also plays Eveleth and Greenway so they have 4 remaining 7a games.

I don't really see those two games tipping against Hibbing, that's why I did not mention them.
I would point out as well that those breakaways were all on Virginia powerplays, so again if it were 5-on-5, Jamnick might not have had all of those opportunities. The fact that there were rarely 10 skaters on the ice opened things up for Jamnick and Westin and really took both teams 3rd and 4th lines completely out of the game. I'm hoping the rematch in Virginia will turn into the game I was expecting to see in this one. Although the atmosphere probably won't match that of the Hibbing Memorial Arena.

In my opinion the Memorial Arena is the best place to watch a hockey game beside mini Ralph and the XCEL. In the old days you'd have people hanging on the rafters and that place was filled wall to wall. You sat elbow to elbow. I wish they'd still have the section championship there.

I have been reading this post and have to finally say a few things first off the best players of the game were Jamnick, Westin and Lustig. However this was the worst excuse for a hockey game. It was all about chippy play. Pacman and Gopher 101 have knocked the Virginia fans but I happened to be fairly close to what happened. First off it was packed in the Memorial Building so the Virginia fans had no choice but to sit next to the student section since Hibbing takes up 3/4 of the seating but I have to say the people of Hibbing would be very disappointed at how some(not all) of their students acted towards adults. I would recommend those students sit on the side with the Hibbing adults and I bet they would straighten up. The biggest problem I had with this game is that I was excited to see a really good game and all I saw was the biggest garbage game of all. Hopefully when the two match real hockey fans will be able to see a great game.

Boo Hoo! Virginia is not very good and I can't wait till Hibbing goes into there place and smokes them again. It was chippy and it was physical but I still thought it was a good played game because special teams was huge and Hibbng could've scored 4 goals shorthanded. Don't worry the Jackets students will be at that game and once again they will most likely destroy the opposition.
And let me guess you also want the band along with the students to sit on the other side. If I had it my way the Devils would've had 2 sections on their side while the students and the band get the other two.

Really? With a 12-5 record, with wins over teams your own Blue Jackets have lost to, and very similar scores with other common opponents, Virginia is not very good? That would imply that your team is not very good as well. The fact is that both teams have been and probably will continue to be ranked right next to each other as the season goes on in nearly all the rankings. Also, I'm not sure at what point in time a two goal win became a "smoking", especially when the shot totals were almost even. Hopefully, the Hibbing players don't share your attitude, or they can pretty well pack it in when playoffs roll around. Thankfully, I don't think they do.

Your idea of a "good" played game is different than most. A special teams contest with whistles every 30 seconds is not most people's ideal game to watch. I'm sure it was more exciting for Hibbing fans being that their team won, but to the purist, this game was, well... for lack of better words... trash. And that can be directly attributed to the officials who felt a need to try to control a situation that didn't exist - it wasn't nearly as chippy as a lot of other games I've seen this year. I wouldn't even describe it as a chippy game - physical, yes, but not chippy. As for all the comments about what took place in the stands, they are really of no relevance. The fans had absolutely nothing to do with what took place on the ice -- the Hibbing student section, which your obviously a part of, included.
And let me guess you also want the band along with the students to sit on the other side. If I had it my way the Devils would've had 2 sections on their side while the students and the band get the other two.
And the rest of the Virginia fans would sit where? Obviously, you don't understand the laws of physics?
