Austyn Young has decent size, although he needs to bulk up a little, great hands, and a quick release. His skating is smooth. Hockey is in the blood. His father John, was i believe allstate in high school, and skated four years at Michigan Tech, and his older sister Ashley was all everything for 5 years at So ST paul and is currently a senior at Minnesota state

I would add Garrett Aldrich (Elk River) to this list. 10-0-2
The kid has been playing second line and PK. I bet he's blocked 20 shots this year. He had 4 against Edina alone. No one out works this lunch pail kid.

I have finished dredging up of what we can call the freshmen of influence. Maybe not all of the best freshmen in the state are here (there are probably some hiding out in the JV-Bantam rosters of larger schools, e.g., Edina), but these all are getting significant playing time, and even putting points up. These are the forwards (in no particular order), to be followed by the defenders and goalies. I was not able to include all schools since some do not have their rosters up at FollowThePuck.com yet (e.g., Kittson Central, Bagley, St. Louis Park).

Forwards (Games Played - Goals - Assists)

I think that mike reilly is a very talented player. He has very good stick handling, however you have to look at the size factor. I find it hard to believe that he can go very far in hockey and become a truly solid defenseman without growing a tremendous amount. I think that he will be a great addition to AHA if they pair him with a bigger more physical D. However, I just think that he might not be able to become the player that he could be with his skill unless he grows.

Umm. Sorry. Zach Adams is a sophomore. He wears No. 5.
No. 6 for New Prague is an eighth grader.
Someone read the roster wrong.

From FollowThePuck.com New Prague roster:
5 Zach Adams D 8
6 Cody Meyer D 10

So you're saying that Cody Meyer is the 8th grader, right?

Okay. Thanks for the info.

That is correct, Meyer is an eight grader...he does have one assist on varsity.

In the Schwan Cup Horn is beginning to shine. He had the game-winning goal in OT in their first game, and just now scored a beautiful break-away goal in their 4-1 win over Cretin DH. I was surprised by his size: he has D1 written all over himself. Let's hope he stays in high school and doesn't jump to Junior hockey. No need to.

You are right on about Horn. He is allready one of Benilde's top players. I was lambasted by some guy for claiming that Jake Horton was one of Wayzata'a top players on their Bantam "A" team last year in an earlier post on BSM hockey but Horton is proving me right with his play this year at Benilde. He is improving each game and has great poise for a freshman. Wayzata will get to see what they are missing come Thursday.
