In our association if you are not playing varsity as a sophmore, you probably are not going to be playing varsity ever. I have never seen anyone go from U16 to varsity in the 12 years I have been in the association. Generally, if you are on u16 you will be playing junior gold the rest of your high school years.

I haven't seen Jefferson yet, but Edina Green was beaten by their Edina black counterpart in the Schwans Cup Tourney and they ended up in the 7th place game.
Stillwater beat Edina Black a week before 6-0.

I have seen Jefferson play a few times. They have a very dominating first line and a second line that can really put the puck in the net. I believe that once Jefferson can come together and drop the whole "equal playing time" deal and get those first 2 lines more ice time, Tonka may need to start watching out for their number one spot. Jefferson plays at stillwater next, should be a fun one to watch!

In regards to sixbucksagallon comment a few posts back I have seen several players go from 16U as a 10th grader to JV as a Junior and then Varsity as a Senior. In fact one player a few years ago scored a goal in the HS State Tournament as a Sr after being on the 16U team as a Sophomore. So it definitely can happen. A lot depends on #'s. If you're behind a class that's loaded you might just have to wait your turn. There are some very good players at 16U.

Well, I want to be fair here because we know that teams can just have a bad night. 6PM is a bad time for the Jefferson kids to eat a decent meal, get across town to Stillwater in time and play their best.
We experienced the same thing going to Minnetonka and OMG and had off nights.
With that said, the teams didn't seem to match up very well, Stillwater was bigger and faster.
I'm sure Jefferson will be looking forward to playing us again in their own rink.
Sidenote, Stillwater has two injured kids on the bench.

That seems fair enough, thanks. I find it nearly impossible to believe that Jefferson was on their game and put up a zero, but who knows. Perhaps stillwater, along with tonka, are simply that much better than everyone else, and these sorts of scores will be posted up all year long.

And OMG deserves to be up there, they beat us twice.

Cant figure out OMG, they beat Stillwater twice but each Eagan team beat them 6-1 and 6-0..go figure.
