Wow, didn't see that one coming! He had seven points for the Jaguars as a sophmore last year and four points (3g) at the Select Camp. Is this kid enormous or something?

Congrats kid, now do your country proud!!

EDIT: Not enormous... 5'9" 163lbs
I've watched this kid play and my son has played with him several times...very talented player. His points during the season were low because he broke his leg in an early season game and couldn't play until the end of the season. You will hear a lot more about him this year. He has good hands, sees the ice well, great shot and is not afraid to go hard after the puck.

Congrats Herbert!

Why would that matter?
Are you looking at a line of MN players?
No I wasn't looking for a Minnesota line. I don't think USA Hockey would do that.

I thought there might be a different mix.

A noticed absentee is Nate Schmidt. I think he played on the team that went over there last year. How did he play in St. Cloud?

Any chance Herbert is on Green Bay's protected list?

Hey Hammy, why does USA Hockey inflate the player's sizes so much? Is it a psychological ploy against their opponents?

Anybody who knows these guys will be able to attest to the inflated sizes, or you can just compare these measurements to the Model Camp measurements (which were taken at camp).

I'm not worried about it or anything... it's not like I'm saying that Budish isn't huge and Oliver and Pitlick aren't big... I'm just wondering why there's a need to inflate the numbers.

I am sure they don't inflate it on their own as much as simply put down a listed size from what they are given from some other source. I don't think any of the involved parties really care in the end what the roster says other than to simply have an idea who is on the team.

From what I understand, the measurements taken at the Model Camp are done by central scouting and they have obvious reasons for wanting an accurate idea of physical attributes.

This happens in all contact sports. I think its a psychological thing used to intimidate the other team. If an opposing team is looking at the roster and they see numerous kids listed at 6'2"-6'3" and 200+ pounds, they're going to start thinking that their opponents are the physically superior team, even though it may not be true. When your opponent steps onto the ice and is already scared of you, the game is over.
