Tardy is not going anywhere, maybe after season. He is committed to play in the Elite league and lead the Hounds this year. East will be tops in a weaker than normal section. That's assuming they keep Tardy in a Hounds uniform. Not sure of Cloquet, Elk River, Forest Lake, Anoka.

Moore, Dick, and How will be welcome additions to the varsity, but aside from that the sophomore group is no deeper than the junior class and there aren't many with size. Hope Coach Klatt makes more of an impact with the high school program than he did with the bantams. Best of luck to him and the t-hawks.
I think you'll see a group that works well together. The GR coaching staff has always had a gift at creating a team first atmosphere. While not every kid has always seemed to buy into it, most have, and they've had success because of it. I don't suspect that will change this year. Only if some of the kids, and probably mostly parents trying to live out the dream through there kid, would keep from critizing & critiqueing the players everymove on this board, and just watch and let the coaches coach, you cake eaters have done it on the youth and high school board for many years. I saw it last year with your pee-wee team, take 2nd in state and rip your goalie apart on the youth board, why? All I know is his first name is Calvin. I have seen him play, he is pretty good. I wouldn't say he has the starting spot is senior year for sure, I think there is some younger goalies that he will have to compete with.rapidsrapids wrote:Who is the kid from Alaska? I think Tompson's a top tier goalie in 7AA and will continue to improve as the season moves on. I also heard that CEC got a goalie from Alaska recently, and I believe that he is a junior next year, which will help his senior year for sure. I expect that Roy, Abrahamson, and McFarlane will lead this team offensively, and that Jokinen, T. Tollerud, and R. Tollerud will be strong on the blue line. It will be interesting to see how they fair against other 7AA teams next year.

That would be fun, but we have learned that you can never count Cloquet out and I think Andover will be surprising this year and you never know how Elk River and Anoka will reload. I think it will be a tough section. Forest Lake could throw in a wrench too.rapidsrapids wrote:Rapids will likely struggle early on, but this year I expect a Grand Rapids/Duluth East section final. 7AA certainly will not be as talented as it was 2-3 years ago when it was glutted with high end talent.
