This is usually given to a senior so I'd suspect Gardiner or Student would be two top candidates as would Tyler Barnes.
no way tyler barnes wont win it

Doubt it. Too many character issues/bad reputation for a major media outlet too honor him as the player of the year. I hope its Student because he was able to lead his team to state, something Jake Gardiner was unable to do. However, I think Gardiner will get it because he's a better pro prospect.
I'm not surprised his name was brought up, and I am not surprised someone shut him down, everyone has something to say about his attitude, sure it is bad, I hope you relise that hockey gets the best out of people, you need to relise that it is the game of hockey, and that everyone loses their temper, if you look from his sophmore year to now you would surprised how much he's changed, so give the man some credit.

Yeah i agree the kid has been through alot and has come a long ways. He is a very talented player. And i hope to see him playing in the WCHA sometime soon

Buddish deserves it and might get it because he will be a Gopher, but more than likely it will be Gardiner, he's a senior, he's committed to a WCHA school, and he has NHL potential.

You should have stuck around and watched Budish in the second game...

Wow, my head hurts. The certainty of those posting on this thread is perplexing. They can't all win it, so most of you are wrong.

Gardiner is my best guess. Budish and Everson probably show on an All-Metro team. Student from Benilde makes that too. J.T. Brown, Eddy, and someone (or more) from Hill. The goaltender is probably the kid from Lakeville, although Flip already copped the Brimsek.

If they have a 2nd team or HM it probably has Gleason and Lee. That might seem like too many Edina kids, but four are worthy and it is hard to bump any out.

IIRC, Budish was 1st Team and Lee was 2nd this fall for a different sport.

I see Lee, Budish and Everson as all deserving for the All-Metro Team, as Lee has 9 more goals than Budish, and 2 less total points. He also did not have the luxury of Edina's top forwards to play with. That is impressive. Gleason has the credentials as well to make the All-Metro team.
