Does anyone know of any injuries for this game? I know that STA had a few but not sure about tonight... And agreed with deacon, for those who want SSP to win just because they are bored of STA or don't like them overall.. that is stupid. The state tourney is about the best teams in state playing for a state championship in their respected classes, not about a less talented team making state because you are bored or dislike the team. If they make state then they deserve it, but who thinks SSP would actually make it deep into the tourney...at least deeper than STA would...

man you STA guys are really full of yourselves. Calling someone stupid because they wish SSP wins? The A state tournament is about the little guys, the teams that don't usually get there. Isn't that why it was created? Did you ever think people might be rooting for the underdog, just becuase they are the underdog?
The reason people don't like or are bored with STA is because of posters like you.
So I guess I'm stupid, chalk up another vote for SSP.

Hockeygod54, how would losing in A be motivation to move to AA? It would be the exact opposite. Also, they can't opt for another 3 years if they wanted to, this has been beat to death.
power92, sure, there are arrogant posters, but the posters aren't why people don't like St Thomas. You and I both know that. And how would you disagree that having the best teams there isn't what's best for hockey? Upsets in sections suck for the tourney. When Hopkins didn't make it in basketball last year the 4A tourney was pretty lame. Why would you want SSP to make it? Yes, I will be the first to admit it is unfortunate that St Thomas got put in the section they did (Blame the MSHSL, not STA fans) but why would you want them to get upset? I was glued to my tv watching the 7A OT hoping Marshall would lose (since they are, IMO, the only team who'll give STA a run for their money) but for the purpose of better hockey it is better they made it.

Wilcox is really proving tonight that he is the best goalie in the state at any level.

Goldy,
Are you sure he is the best ever? This is a lofty statement after one game. My God have some perspective.

He definately lived up to the hype you've put on him. Lightning quick, and he's a big kid for being just a freshman. Good game tonight, STA was just better. Props to Walters for getting back out there after a big hit late in the 3rd, and scoring the final goal a few shifts later.

I tried telling you all that the kid was a stud and that he was the #1 goalie all season. Unfortunately they had a senior goalie that they felt bad for, and played them every other game.
The kid will be a stud for another 3 years and I sure hope the Gophers recruit him. Justin Faulk might be one of the best sophomore defensemen in the state also.

I thought he was done after that hit. He went FLYING. I was thinking he blew a ligament. Then roughly 5 minutes later, he's back on the ice.
He ruined it by taunting the SSP bench after he scored. And people wonder why others can't stand STA.

Hats off to SSP tonight. They really looked good tonight. However, I gotta say, the Cadets looked flat and still managed to squeak out a win. Good luck in St. Paul.

Hard to blame him for taunting SSP after scoring. When it was clear that was Walters was hurt, the SSP fans went wild and cheered like crazy...they then proceeded to chant "season's over, season's over". It was nice to see Walters score and show SSP whose season is actually over.

Must have been just a few idiots. I saw most of the SSP fans cheering for him once he got up and skated off. I thought both teams played hard and physical and still showed some class. It was for the section championship, of course there's going to be some emotion out there.

Sure real class. How can you say that. The entire student section was chanting for almost a minute seasons over season over. Then when the medals were being awarded to STA the whole team and coaches left to their locker room except for the captains and 4 or 5 other guys. Props to those guys for being good sports.
As for taunting. When Marc Haverkamp scored his goal and he was skating to his bench a SSp player stuck out his stick hand cut him in the neck.
Guess what BIG TIME PLAYERS SUCK IT UP AND MAKE BIG TIME PLAYS
SSP coaches and school should be embarassed for leaving the ice during an awards ceremony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
