If I have to play a defending MN big school state champion that is returning a lot of pieces to the puzzle, I'd want to play them early rather than later.
I think Roseau is just starting their roll, RR could give them fits in their own building but I think the Rams will raise the bar and take it by at least a deuce.

I think this is a tougher tongue twister than a decision who will win this game...

I was there too, Roseau controlled the game, but I actually thought Jefferson looked like a comparable team. I dare say I feel like Jefferson had more depth, and they showed it when they played RR.
This should be a huge game to determine how powerful Roseau is!
I take Rams 4-2

I believe it will be the toughest game yet for the Rams. We will be playing on their home ice. We have historically performed under our abilities on their ice. The Rams 1990 State Championship team lost to Red River 2-1. The Rams outplayed the Roughriders, but came out on the losing end. RR would go on to win the ND state championship. At the end of the year, Red River players and fans were wearing shirts with the following:
North Dakota State Boys Hockey Champs 2
Minnesota State Boys Hockey Champs 1
In other words, this is a HUGE game for Red River. Lets face it, beating Roseau would be bigger than winning the North Dakota championship. They are an extremely talented team this year. If you look at who they've played, and how well they've done, you know they are good. They have a lot of fire power. Roseau will have to avoid the stupid penalties, and play stingy on defense to win. Here's my prediction:
Roseau 4
Red River 3
That's amazing since the 1990 Rams only lost one game during the season...and it wasn't to GFRR but Grand Rapids. If there was a game between the two it was after the season was already over and counted for exactly squat
As far as present day goes. GFRR is a GREAT team and has every chance in the world to win, and it really wouldn't shock me if they did. Some people believe you have to come from Minnesota or more precisely a metro team to be any good, but that is definitely not the case here. Some here refer to the Jefferson game as judging the Rough Riders, but didn't Jefferson win in a SHOOT OUT! So, in other words, if Jefferson didn't play them in a Holiday tournament they wouldn't have beaten them...

wrong, they lost, blais skated them in the "dome" and they finished as champs with 2 losses. GR and RR. Ram Hockey, please verify.

I'm fairly certain that the '90 team only lost one game during the season.

The '99 team only lost 1 game but the '90 team lost to both RR & Grand Rapids. They ended up 25-2. You can look it up under state tournament history @ minnhock.com.

Wrong. Roseau's 1990 State Championship team lost two regular season games. One against Red River and one against Rapids. Check out the following link which takes you to state tournament history.
http://www.minnhock.com/state-tournament-1990.htm It shows the Rams finished the season. 25-2. I am from Roseau, and I remember this well. It is true that Blais was furious and he had the boys skating drills till they puked after this one. I'm a huge Roseau fan and I definitely wouldn't add another loss to our history.

I also am from Roseau, played for Roseau, and was playing pee-wee A's during 90. I was mistaken and thought they only lost to GR, but thanks for pointing that out after I responded already.

The reason Blais skated the 1990 team so hard on the dome was because a couple of players on the way home mimicked the bus driver, not because of the game! And nobody puked, Blais's comment after that skate was you bastards are in shape! Just a little info!

So you're saying Blais didn't have a problem with them losing a game they should have won, but rather - with them mimicking the bus driver? Wow. I kind of wonder if he was furious at the loss, and the bus driver mimicking scandal just pushed him over the top?! Yeah, I admit the puking was hyperbole on my part to make the point that they were skated to the absolute max.

Honestly, FSN should have broadcasted this game. A ND vs. MN matchup with one of the best teams from either state. Would have been better than plenty of the games they've already broadcasted.
Anyways, enough bantering of FSN.
GL to both teams and it should be a good one.
Games tomorrow at 7:30 in GF.

Anyone who knows of these two teams and have watched them play would have to honestly say it could go either way. Very close game unless one of the teams has an off night. Either team can compete with the best. I would give Roseau a slight edge.

It wouldn't be overly surprising to see Roseau drop a game.
Might even be a good thing to have happen about now.
It's pretty tough to go undefeated all the way through.
But until somebody beats 'em..........
