I said the same thing "puck". If are you doing 2 "prelim" games why not have 4 divisions of 3 teams each.
4 division champs play in the semi's...then winners play for 1st, losers for 3rd.
4 Second place division teams play in semi's...then winners play for 5th, losers for 7th.
4 Third place division teams play in semi's...then winners play for 9th and losers are in the toliet bowl.
I would love to hear why the present format, I am sure there is a good reason....but I am still scratching my hairless head!!!

agree with your 4 pools of 3. Hopefully we will get an explanation. I'm sure the teams that don't have to play EP like the format:)

You know what though...
We all go to so many tournaments anymore that the home team plays the "cupcakes" in order to make it to the final.
Check out who Roseau plays in the "prelims" -
EP and FIRE - WOW!
Now that is refreshing,
Roseau wants to play some competition!!!
At least we know the tournament director isn't a "homer"....but just wait... How many calls you think EP or the FIRE will get?

Probably more than Roseau.

Tie Breakers:
Pool play-1st two games-All ties will go to a five man shoot-out. If tied after five shooters it will go to a sudden death shoot-out
After pool play, teams will be seeded according to record. If records are tied, team with the most points will get the higher seed. Win = 2, Loss = 0, Shootout Loss = 1.
If still tied, team with the best goal differential (GD) will get the higher seed.
Seeding game (3rd game)- If teams are tied there will be a five minute sudden death overtime. If tied after five minutes, shoot-out rules will apply as stated above.
Final games - All games tied after regulation will go to a five man shoot-out except for the Championship game. Championship game will be an eight minute sudden death overtime.
If still tied, shoot-out rules will apply.
All other USA Hockey rules will apply.

Hiya Ram Hockey...
I am far from being critical on this but could you explain the format of having 2 divisions of 6 teams and then the #1 seeds playing each other for the opportunity to play the winner of the #2 seeds in the 'ship?
I think your tournament looks great!!! Just never seen a format quite like it and curious.
Thanks and good luck, it looks like a GREAT TOURNAMENT!

I'm guessing it won't matter. Top two seeds in each division probably will be 2-0. Gotta win 'em all. But I understand your point.
Good Pools

RAM HOCKEY has a lot of work to do so if he did not set it up correct or to your liking that is the way it goes some times for over worked volunteers. Some nice hockey clubs in this tournament, well done.

Hey...I never said I didn't like the format...FAR FROM IT!!!
I too think that this is a GREAT tournament, but I was just asking a question, I was just interested in the concept.
Maybe down-state associations can learn something from the RAMS!
Thanks for the courtesy.....

My understanding is most of the teams in the field are coming for the competition and how it's set up is irrelevant to them. 4 games in three days against some of the best. 4 three team brackets would have been the way to go if defining a winner was the reason for the tourney. Having one of those brackets include EP, Fire, and Roseau might skew the results also. Ram Hockey and his little assistant put together more than a tourney, it's a Bantam Hockey Showcase.

I cant' wait to get there....
After watching the Roseau/Warroad game last night and seeing the sign in the crowd, "Bingo cancelled Saturday due to Bantam Tournament"...OMG!!
I don't think I have ever looked forward to a 6-7 hour drive to a hockey tournament, but I am so excited for this trip!
Roseau here we come!!

my puck 12:::
I hope you will be there since you are playing in the game.. I will take EP by 3 minimum over your squad and the Fire by at least the same. You guys picked the right 2 teams to start out the tourney if you were looking for great competition but the wrong 2 teams if you were looking to win your own tournement.
Good luck!!!

both the roseau bantams and peewees are good solid teams but havent been able to beat anyone thats a top echlon team. its a stretch to think they could win those two games. however i do know that all of us including the kids are excited to get a chance to play these teams win or lose.
