there was no joking matter in my post. I just thought that was a bit high of score for a game against EGF. They have a solid team this year. Yes, the Cards are ranked fifth, obviously, considering they lost one skater from last years team, and yes, they beat Hibbing(8th in A) this past week 1-0. outshooting them by double. Lost to Grand Rapids 1-0 in OT, in a tight game that I personally think could have gone either way. So I suppose if Crookston beats Grand Rapids, MOM can rub it in my face a little, but I wish you guys luck, because they are a very tough team.
hmm.. warroad 3
crookston 2

I don't dare make a score prediction, because if I'm off GOCARDS1 will jump all over me.
Crookston will win.

I think that those eastside girls may have been a little under estimated... Everyone knows they have been no good for years. But this year i see them stepping up to the plate. this years section will be a good one.. we may see some upsets?

Listened to it on my laptop just north of the cities. Mike Peterson could take a lesson over at KKWQ in Warroad from both the TRF (Roseau - TRF game tuesday night) and Crookston radio stations. Very well done.

Well i saw a good warroad team but i sure hope that wasn't crookston's best otherwise they're in some serious trouble. Tonight in my eyes was a prime example of a failure of a team. It all seemed to start from the net out and the girls lost hope. My thoughts they might need someone coaching those goaltenders otherwise they might not make it out of the section

Story was the story scoring 4 goals leading the Warriors to a victory over the Pirates. Crookston never recovered from a slow start and were outworked, outmucsled and outscored by the Warriors. The only bright spot for the Pirates was the play of Meyer who replaced Martin in the net. It is very obvious that the Pirates are in dire need of getting Wangen back in the line up. The inexperience at the blueline was very-very apparent. Hold your heads high Pirates as there is plenty of time left to bring your game to a higher level.

How's this look?
1. Blake
2. Warroad
3. Breck
4. Roseau/Crookston (this spot will be determined next friday)
6. Alexandria
7. Doesn't matter from here on down

ya.. true that. I personally think all 6 of those teams are pretty even and could win a game against the other on any given day. but unfortunately, 5 out of the 6 teams are found in only two sections. Alex's section is a blessing...
I was a bit suprised with last nights score. Warroad played fergus falls last week and beat them 3-0. Fergus is not a very good team at all. I just found that score a bit odd, considering Fergus lost to brainerd 1-5 last night.. so technically, this next week's number 2 in class A only managed to beat fergus 3-0.. interesting I guess.. scores are deceiving I guess...

I'm not so sure that Breck should be in the top 6. They always seem to be ranked high early in the season, then they fail. They're ranking must be because they're a private school.

Ya, they probably won't make it to state. But they will give blake a run for their money Im sure. They are pretty good this year again I think, losing to Edina 2-3.
Alex plays Breck later in the month so we will have to see how that goes.
They also have Roseau this year to. Should be interesting.

What does being a private school have to do with being ranked high? There are a number of other private schools that play girls hockey that aren't ranked at all.
Breck is much improved this year, after having returned nearly everybody from last year's team. In 2006-07 they went 25-5 with three of those coming against their old nemises, Blake. They are much deeper than most Class A teams and have very good teamwork plus some very talented individuals. Until another Class A team knocks them off, they deserve their No. 2 ranking IMO.

I think you may have been able to question their ranking and record last year. They had a pretty impressive record, but their schedule was very weak. This year, though, they have stepped-up their non-conference schedule. I believe they are for real and should be able to challenge Blake.

ya, they are a deep class A team but I believe they are ranked 3rd, but ya, I know what you mean. I personally think, like SiouxRule, that the top 6 is pretty hard to rank because all of the teams are fairly close in my opinion.

Crookston needs Lexy Wangen back (but that being said I would rather them play without her now instead of rushing her back and being without her at the end of the season). They also need 1 girl to step up and fill the wing spot on the Wheelhouse, Persson line. The defense needs to skate, E. Wheelhouse can't do it alone, there was too much gliding and waiting for the puck to come to them for the others. Meyer was awesome in net when she came in.

I think Blake is the clear No. 1 choice in Class A, and it's a no-brainer to rank them there. Defending state champ, and they've lost just one game (to BSM in last year's Schwan Cup final) since early last season, even though they've played MANY games against some of the best AA teams. After Blake, then maybe it gets a little tougher, but
at this point in the season I would bet on Breck being the second best A team.

What kind of a statement is that? Every team in the state would like to see a girl step up and fill a void in the roster. This goes back to the fact that almost every team in the state is a one and a half line team. Any team with two full lines (and a pretty good third) will be seeing a trip to the state tournament. At this point in time, Roseau may close to fitting this bill. Looks to me that Crookston misses the "I" in team!

Ok, settle down kids, this is just an early bump in the road for the Pirates. If all they had were ups, how could they every really enjoy the ups? Warroad is an excellent team, I would personally like to see the two play a few times during the season to get a better taste and see who is more consistant. It should be interesting when you look at the schedule ahead how they both fare against their common competition. Keep your chins up girls!! Great job against D.L.
Hugs and Kisses,
Mom
