Okay, one more nomination from a poster with over 500 posts and Leer's gone.breakout wrote:I agree with his removal from the list.Art=BAD_ICE wrote:I know I'll catch hell from some for this comment but here goes. Nothing against the kid from what i hear he is a great person, i just think that if we want to down size this list Matt Leer should be removed. He is just plain not that good. Yes he's a wrecking ball on the ice but he is a bad skater, and in my eyes Mr. Hockey in our great state should be able to skate circles around most people. Just my 2 cents.
However, I love his style of play. The kid is a great role player. Tough, intimidating and physical. Hate to play against him. Would love to have him on my team.
I vote we keep Leer and get rid of a poster with over 500 posts.Okay, one more nomination from a poster with over 500 posts and Leer's gone.

I hate crap like this. If was going to be a candidate for Mr. Hockey, you shouldn't need to give us his bio as if it were an application ...aspartame wrote:ok from the south there is one canidate corey leivermann. He is a stud, he plays for Mankato West. Even though they play weak talent at times he is still the man and sweet. He can play with the best of them, and is still getting better everyday. He works his butt off and he has a snipe that will give him ginos everytime. He is not the biggest as guy weight wise but he plays like he is huge and never gives up on plays. so that is my sleeper from the south if you wanted to know.
Sacchetti will be playing full time in the USHL this coming season. Unless they start voting for seniors from MN in that league, he won't be eligible.saintpaulhockey wrote:i know ness and youso and mueller and all the edina and holy angels kids are good, but I have heard from several people that the sacchetti kid is supposed to be head and shoulders above the rest as far as talent and NHL potential. Seeing that he was drafted in the 2nd round and he still has a year left in high school he must be good. He's my pick.
It could be an incentive to NOT leave for the USHL. Personally, I like it the way it is.sieve_33 wrote:I understand the concept of the whole Mr. Hockey award, but just to throw out a question... Why do they only restrict the award to seniors and not to the best player in the league like other great trophies in other leagues like the Hobey and the Heisman?

Why would a kid stay there final season for a Mr. Hockey award? It "could" be an incentive, but highly doubtful. Granted, it is a very prestigious award given to great players, but no one kid will forgo their their option to play juniors, just for the Mr. Hockey Award. (don't get into an argument about playing juniors vs. high school) They should make it like the Hobey. Make the award that much more meaningful... give it to MR. Hockey and not Sr. Hockey. It could be an incentive to NOT leave for the USHL. Personally, I like it the way it is.
The award was around long before the USHL/NTDP trend really became a big threat so I don't see that as being a legit reason. The Exiled One wrote:It could be an incentive to NOT leave for the USHL. Personally, I like it the way it is.
