Good point.....could be. Most of his posts are concerning Ward and the New Prague coaching. He also asks why so many people dislike Darin Sawchuk in his first post.

You guys are all way off base. I know one of the coaches that has left from there and I told him about this being written on here and had no knowledge of it. First of all, Sawchuk resigned so why would he be so bent out of shape about all of this. Kriha (sp) and Hager (sp) haved bothed moved on to other positions so why would they be on here bad mouthing anything about this program. I personally think it is a disgruntled parent not happy about some decisions being made.
They do have a year here where they could make some noise but after that I think Mr. Ward really has his work cut out for him.

Sawchuck resigned because he knew he was gonna get canned if he didnt, so thats why he would "be so bent out of shape about all of this"

Hey dipsey, why do you think that he would have gotten fired? In four years he produced the two best years in New Prague boys hockey and last year took them to the section final. I don't understand why you think he would have got fired.

Not sure why the comment is made about administrators getting involved in the hiring of a coach. Who do you think hires the coach? And why wouldnt he use his friendship to lure a extremely qualified coach into his school? Have you ever been hired to coach a varsity program in any sport? I know of many schools that form a board to hire new coaches. These boards may include local association coaches, Athletic director, assistant principals, principal, players, varsity coaches in other school sports.
As for Troy, he has an extensive background in hockey. Probably more extensive than most current high school varsity coaches do. Does that mean he will be successful? Who knows. I do know he is one of the hardest working people you will meet and is a great person. I wish him all the success in the world.

Because he didnt produce those teams, the association did. Players didnt want to play for him, and didnt really listen to him. Also he had lost control of his assistant coach. The assistant has physically abused players and Sawchuk did nothing about it. Parents, players, and members of the community wanted him gone.

By the sign on name I would guess that you all could figure out who this is. I am ashamed to be reading all of this. People who give all the time and effort to make their kids better hockey players and this is what you get in return. Coach Sawchuk left because he is now going to focus on his son who will be on traveling teams and wants to work with him to continue his growth as a young hockey player. As for him getting fired I believe that is the furthest from the truth. I agree with someone on here who said that he had two of the best years in school history and taking the team to the section final this last year. Yeah sure the association has groomed kids but they still played different systems and he got them to come together as a team and work and play hard together to achieve what they got.
As for Coach Kriha, I will just say this. New Prague Hockey and the town is losing a great hockey mind and teacher. This guy is as good a hockey person as they come and wherever he ends up next will be a lot better for hiring him. Does he come across as a hard ass? Yes, at times, but he expects perfection and won't accept any half assed effort and I for one totally agree with him. If you don't want to be here then don't waste our time. We put forth all this time to make you all better hockey players and if you don't want to put the effort into it that we do, then don't show up. We are basically volunteers for the money we get paid and by god we don't do it for the money, we do it because we love the game. As for the dismal comment about him physically abusing players, you better get the facts on that subject before you accuse anybody of such things.
I am appalled by all the talk on here and am almost embarrassed to say that I have been involved with this program and community. Parents and players alike should all be ashamed of yourselves for the rude and discerning comments made about us as coaches for everything we have done to help this program succeed and leave it a lot better off than when we took over the program four years ago.
My congratulations go out to Coach Ward and all the success to you in your new adventure. I thought you may be coming into a great situation there at New Prague but after what I read on here today I am not so sure anymore.

Coaches Sawchuk, Kriha and Hager (and others) did a commendable job over the last few years. I'm sure there are some kids/parents out there that have felt slighted at one point or another, but that will always happen - no matter which coach or program we're talking about.
I'm sure the hockey people of New Prague are pretty excited about the new coach, but that shouldn't give anybody the right to come on here and take potshots at the old guard. I think it's hard for some to recognize that the people they critique may actually read this thing. It's unfortunate that they have to walk away from New Prague with a bad taste in their mouths.
I can say with a fair amount of conviction that there is NO WAY Sawchuk (or any from his staff) would have been fired after taking their team to the "Public School Championship" of the Missota Conference and the Section Finals. It's time for everybody to move on from this. Those from NP that will have a chance to play under the new coaching staff should recognize that it's a unique opportunity... those that may have incurred 'sour grapes' with the previous staff need to sweep them under the rug and try to move forward... with honor, respect, class and dignity.
