So Beirmier made the tournament team? Seems odd that they would keep three goalies. Maybe he is one of the alternates, in case someone gets hurt. I think you are allowed two of those correct?

Not that it matters because they don't play the game on my computer screen, but:
Roseau 5
Bemidji 0
Shots 45-15

I can't see this game being close at all...Yes Roseau only beat them 3-2 in the regular season, but I see Roseau coming out in the first period and scoring atleast 3 goals. If they start Lee this game I believe that means he will get the start if the Spuds advance to the section finals...am I right?
Roseau--6
Bemidji--1

I guess it is.... mostly everyone has said Roseau will win so if they took the time to read it they should have voted bemidji, all of them, but half must have just clicked who they thought would win, I guess I know for next time....

~Any TRUTH to this?? Bemidjji going to SINGLE A next year?! Once in a while you here a team move from A to AA (Roseau in 1999) but not down normally... weird. Well they would probaly have a better time in A, they could beat more teams...~

Hardly. They could beat Bagley, if they even have enough players to fill a roster next year. They didn't even beat DL and had close games with LOW and EGF.

I'm gonna have to go with......
Roseau-7
Bemidji-1
I have to root for the rams, a town of that size competing in AA with such a deep passion for hockey, how can't you root for them

In this one, I am going to go with...
Roseau - 7
Bemidji - 2

What all of you do not know is that last night, at the team dinner after practice, I did the pre-meal prayer.
Paker and Slappy and Neut and Angus and AP and Hockeywathcer all believe they and the Catholic hockey player have the inside track to teh ear of....
but, no, the reality is....
well, you will see, or hear.
Blondie, bets on, two brew at Liffeys.
Bemidji did not opt 'down' to A. No such thing. They did not opt up to AA.
And I believe the teams in NW Minnesota (HWY 2 north) is pretty much a two team race for the next 6 years or so - Roseau and Bemidji blew everyone out at Bantams and Pee-wees).
Roseau opted to play AA, good thing for them, they will have an easier time with Moorhead then they will with Bemidji over the next six years.

Didn't a team win Bantam A state a few years back, and then hardly ever made it through the first rounds of sections? From what I hear, the head coach there is leading them nowhere, fast.

Is Bemidji's coach formerly from Roseau???

Bemidji's coach is formerly from Grand Rapids

I believe in 2000 the bantams won VFW, but about 6 ot 7 of those players left for juniors before they made it to their senior year.
The two coaches from that time are no longer coaching.
In D16 Bemidji and Roseau dominated Bantam play.
Roseau winning the section by 1 goal. During the year the bantams beat Grand Rapids, Moorhead and Brainerd.
The peewees won the D16 crown dominating everyone except Roseau, who they beat 2 of 3 times. They also beat several AA HS youth programs from the cities.
Bemidji will be in the running over the next 6 years A or AA if they have to or elect to do so in 2 years.
Next year Section 8A will NOT be up for grabs, barring catastrophes the road to the Excel runs through Bemidji.
If you do not know the facts, keep your (ban me) mouth shut.

I would also like to say what a crock I think it is that Bemidji decided not to opt up to AA for the next two years at least.
The coach, schoolboard, and few other people in town who think they know everything about hockey made this decision for everyone.
They may make it to state in classA but I think they would also have a good shot to make it in AA also with what we have coming up in our youth program. I just think the timing was ridiculous.

The final decision came from the players.
The coach preferred AA.
The AD just sought input.
When I spoke with these two, at separate times, I said I prefer AA, but I am only a fan. And I will remain a fan.
Two years from now they may be a AA team by enrollment, but either way they will have the option again at that time (which is a four year election).

Well maybe he should have listened more to the youth hockey people whom this will affect and not a bunch of under achievers who would rather go watch their girlfriends at dance.

It won't have a lot of effect on many youth players.
Some 9th graders will play varsity next year. But the varsity and JV players will play a very similar schedule as last year. They still are in the Mariucci conference. And looking at their schedule a lot of games were single A. On the AA side you had Tech and Apollo and River Lakes and Monticello. I cannot believe (no-offense meant to these teams) any of the players will miss playing these teams. GR, Hibbing, IFalls, Alex, Fergus LFalls will be probably still be on the schedule.
A lot of the 9th graders will be varsity players in 11th grade so thsoe are the ones that will feel the biggest impact. After that they may be a AA school again. Or may elect to be. So there will be minimal effect on 8th graders, little or no effect on 6 & 7 graders.
And the biggest difference is section play.
Go up against Moorhead, Roseau...
Go up against Warraod, TRF, EGF...
The one road is obviously more difficult, but you still need to play goo hockey.
And playing in the A HS hockey tourney may not be a big deal

, but it is at the X, it is on TV.
So if you want to be a former Lumberjack fan, fine.
For me I cheer for the kids, I cheer for quality hockey.
Put whatever letters you want on it.
