You are right. a punch is a punch. just like 200 pts is always 200 pts. I know I didn't play high school hockey and have never been a player, but one thing I have learned over the years is that the goalie is one you watch after and protect (sort of like the QB in football). Correct me if I'm wrong. And so if someone is in the crease or checking the goalie and he hits back is it all right.

a punch is a punch, no matter who throws it
there should not be another standard just because it is a goalie

yes, you must protect your goalie and if someone is shooting late, poking at a covered puck, etc...... you run him over!!!
take the penalty, but protect your goalie

100% agreed.

The reason I asked is because in most of the situations I have witnessed the reason the goalie threw a punch was because the guy was doing something like what you listed. That's all.

What did I not read about the post?

I'm looking at the stats on maxpreps for this game and Carey Wood played 50 minutes and Chris Harwood played 1. Why would you switch goalies with a minute left when you are down by 7?

Right above where you wrote this post it talks about why Wood was not in there but instead you come in and ask another one of your stupid questions that you could answer yourself if you just read before you post!!!

It looked more like an elbow or the commin across with the stick by thee STA player had to say, but Zach glass the D for tartan actually got a penalty as well on the same exact play for shoving the STA palyer either before or after, an I know wood got a cut on his cheek that runs to his mouth that i saw in school today. And i think it happened around 6 mins left in period so idk why they say only 1 min left. Either way Tartan spent over half the third either 5v4 or 5v3 as they got a few more penalties after that play.

There was also a few 4 min penalties givin to Thompson of Tartan and a STA player in the 2nd for throwing punches.

True... the ref mentioned that the D got 2 on that play as well, so the 5 on the goalie plus the D's 2 gave them a 5 on 3 as a result of that play... I guess STA got a goal out of it.

Tartan has sibley on Saturday so would be a good time to regroup as well as get some of their D healthy before Moundsview Tues I believe

Saw the play. Lee gets hooked falls and slides into Wood. An elbow, or shoulder catchs Wood in the mask (did not appear intentional). Lee goes to get up and Wood shoves him down on all fours. At this time it exposes the back of Lee's neck. Thats where the punch from his blocker landed. Not a jab mind you but a haymaker. Guess that answered my question about whether his thumb was okay since he punched with the same hand. Personally he lost his cool... tho STA had run him pretty good a couple of times earlier. If his team were ahead I don't believe he'd have responded in the manner he did.

I just laugh when I see/hear about Tartan teams "going off" and showing no class, or throwing a punch, or parents yelling & screaming at officials. Ya wonder why people look at your program as a joke? The coaches have little control over the program. Furne got out and I won't be surprised to see other talented players take the advice from their parents and go elsewhere and give their kids an opportunity to play for a decent high school program. As a HM fan, keep up the good work Titans, we appreciate your players.
