LOL! I had to go back and re-read that after wondering "what's Slap talking about here??". If I'd tried, I couldn't have come up with that rhyme. I'm, um, left brained. Or is that right brained? Whatever the creative half of the brain is, I don't have it.

i do believe ellingson played awesome last night... reid and a bunch of other teamates stepped up alot! I think Reid did awesome last night regardless of what anyone says alot of the players stepped up showed they have the ability to keep up with a great team.

This was by far the best game on FSN this year... Showcased two of the best goalies in the state.
JV game was pretty exciting too...

What about the other 40 some saves? The only one that got by him wasn't even scored by an East player. He wasn't lucky, he was amazing. Don't even try that BS, you are just making East fans look bad (not that they don't already).

Ellingson was not amazing. Gorg's commentary of Ellingson was amazing.

East fans do not look bad already.

Swing and a miss.

Swing and a miss.

Swing and a miss.

Yer outta here!

Btw, for those who want to call it luck. It takes some luck to get the puck to hit the d-man's stick and get past Reid. Goes both ways

I was pulling for East and I think Reid played awesome as did the whole team given the circumstances they were in. Esse did a fine job getting his team ready for this one. This was a great game and they should meet again come play-off time. ( Great play by both teams)

Homered?? Are you being serious? The ref lost site of the puck guy.

What was with the two "phantom" offsides calls against East late in the third? The first of the two took away a 3 on 1. Replay showed he onside by at least a foot. Few minutes later they call it again! And the penalty late in the third that gave Cloquet a 5 on 3 PP was really weak too. Is this normal range home ice refereeing?

Does DE's defense normally give up that many odd man rushes? Leis had to be great. Ellingson had to match!

Ya Cloquet has a real reputation of "homering" people... this isnt that close to the iron range buddy....

That whistle would have been blown in every single game and the only reason it is being bitched about now is because you got to see a replay. If you didnt get to see the replay i guarantee no one would argue with it.

East gets the Duluth News Tribune and every news station to "homer" them and make it sound like they are the most amazing thing to happen to hockey.

East had 11:30 of more powerplay time than cloquet did. That is pretty one sided, and a couple of those penalties were extrememly questionable. If you are going to blame the TIE on elements other than the game and the effort by the players then you have to realize it is a two way street.

Every game both teams get breaks there are plenty of things for both teams that could be brought up, the point is that refs and "bad luck" in the end dont have an affect on the outcome of the game...how many scoring opportunities were there for both teams? 89 shots combined!? And your gonna say reid was lucky, then leis was as lucky, there were odd man rushes, breakaways, powerplays...about a million scoring chances....so dont say some ignorant thing like East got homered or the refs cost east the game....i think East should consider themselves lucky enough that they played Cloquet without their FIRST LINE which includes TJ, one of the best in state, and has 12 more points than anyone on easts team....

Spectacular game!!! I was there for both JV and Varsity games and they were the best games I have seen Cloquet play this year in my opinion. Jokinen, Boleman, and Lundquist along with all of the other Cloquet players stepped it up HUGE. I can only imagine how the game would have turned out if Cloquet was at 100%.

Ellingson played GREAT. I think that game was a perfect example of why Reid is one of the best goalies in the state.

I can only imagine how the Cloquet defender felt after that shot hit his stick then went in...

Was it just me or did East's Defense not play that good? They let up a number of odd man rushes.

Thats just my 2 cents...

Not too old, because some keep going to it.

I can just imagine, in 1982, if the Internet and this Board had been around, what their fans would've said after losing Millen and getting beat by Mariner in the State quarterfinals. "You know, if Corey hadn't been hurt...." Image

And to East fans complaining about the officiating, quit it. I've seen worse (hint: Forest Lake game) The common theme is that one short official (I call him Half Pint because I don't know his real name yet).

And as for whoever said that Duluth East had a goal disallowed and CEC got lucky, East shoulda won, etc. WRONG. The whistle blew well before the puck went in. It was a great game, nobody should have won.

Cloquet v.s. East

Great game played by both teams, I'm glad I taped it. Ellingson played amazing and if he can stay that way Cloquet still might have a shot at state even with the missing players.

I'd say enough with the excuses made about that quick whistle. The whistle was blown before the puck even went in the net, things like this happen in every game.

Overall I think East played a little better, they seemed to have more pressure on Cloquet and alot better passing. I think Cloquet played alot better defensively than East though.
