Another 30 years and he'll pass Ikola in wins...
if I had a 8th grade White Bear AA bantam i’d be looking at gentry academy
Pay all that money to go to a school with 25 girls. More to life than hockey.
Gentry is way more than hockey and is becoming one of the best schools in the state with a waiting list it’s funny all these haters that don’t know what’s really happening

If you googled it, what you were seeing is from 2017. In 2021 they became a charter school, no tuition needed.

Again, gentry is a public charter school. No tuition needed. Taxpayer dollars. However, kids from out of state live with a host family. How does this follow high school league rules?

I had a brief conversation with a woman who is associated with Gentry. I think she has a kid or two there, but I'm not sure. She indicated that there are "only a couple of billeted students enrolled" there. I hope to get a chance to talk to her more in the near future.

Even a couple of billeted, kids is too many for a school that is publicly funded by Minnesota tax dollars. I guarantee you those kids didn’t go there for academics.

This is sarcasm, right? Breck is $35k a year.

There's been a lot of speculation about Gentry and playing organized hockey during gym class, etc.

For what it's worth, I happened to run into a Gentry family the other day and asked them about this. Here's exactly what they said:

Gentry has the same courses that any high school offers children, but also focuses on leadership development. There are two hours of every day, from 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM that is considered WIN time (What I Need) and it's effectively an elective period to do what you want. The hockey kids go play hockey, the other kids go do what they want to do, etc. The actual ice time equates to about 90 minutes a day (7.5 hours per week). And families pay for this ice time.

I didn't ask if coaches are present, or some adult 'volunteers' or if there's some level of organization beyond the hockey kids just doing whatever they want. Didn't want it to seem like I was being intrusive. But anyway, interesting to hear this from an actual Gentry family (whose kid there doesn't play hockey, BTW).

Do with that what you will.
