HS hockey was supposed to die after the class split too.

Not only is he an outstanding hockey player, his judgment is more developed than any other teenager in history.
That does it. I've gone from not worrying about this kid to waving the flag and telling everyone else they don't need to worry about him either.

I never posted any list. That was minnscout I believe.
Clearly MN HS hockey is not the be all end all. It isnt the best hockey for the age group, that is not up for debate.
The issue is these kids/parents thinking they can rule the roost. Do whatever they want, becasue he is "the best 97". There have been plenty of kids who were studs at 15 that turned to be average by 20.
Im done with it though, for those that want to keep coddling and continue to worship a 15 year old kid, have fun. That real creepy, especially if you arent family.

The bottom line is that the kid and his dad should have waited before going on their sightseeing trip to Vancouver. They'll be playing hockey up there long after our season here is finished, and if they had waited until then there would not be a problem. I bet plenty of other coaches, at least those with some balls, would have handled the situation in exactly the same way.

He isnt driving these decisions. It is his adult parents. Im sure Pauly and Mr. Baer dont see eye to eye. That is the issue.
Oh, but who honestly cares? Not I. His name will be forgotten in weeks. One more hour to kill
Hasn't it been an hour? Unless you have something else.

Half hour. The beauty is I get paid to get a bunch of grown men fired up about a 15 year old little kid. Think about that.

Pass the bong.
That would be the day any coach dictated to me what I can and cant do with my kids.
They waited for a weekend that BSM didn't play, then went sightseeing to Vancouver and gave coach Pauley a courtesy call to say he'd be missing a practice.
There is one and ONLY ONE appropriate response from Pauley. Should been;
"Have a great trip. See ya Monday."
Instead he panicked, went into "sky is falling" mode and made a pre-emptive strike against a 15 year old.
Every coach in Minnesota with any ethics whatsoever should be ashamed of this move and I am happy to say, all that I have spoken to about this share that view.
Even Pauley has regrets now, but has backed himself into a corner. Let's hope he has the stones to admit when he's wrong and make the appropriate adjustment in course. Now that would be teaching real life lessons.

The Fam shoulda said it was a trip to disney instead of BC. All would be golden. Maybe not throw it in the face of the head coach that you are going to check out my next team.
"They went sightseeing in Vancouver"
There is no way you can even believe that complete BS you just wrote. They went to BC for hockey.

Internet troll? Says the guy trying to kill an hour by cutting down a 15 yr old?
Winning a state championship...ummm....yes I did.
Idolizing 15 yr olds? Ummm...No. I barely even know him or his family. I just think what Pauly did was short-sighted and the punishment did not fit the actions.

Well, you nailed it that there wasn't just cause to kick him off the team.

Cutting down? No. Just stated that I think Pauly can decide what he pleases for HIS team.
I dont know him from anyother kid. I dont have a reason to be cutting him down. Just cutting down the theory that talented kids should get away with things other "non talented" kids never could.
I bet you wish you went to the W, cause you would be in the NHL!!!!

The kid is 15. not 25 give the kid abreak. Make him skate boards. The coach was wrong. He needs to grow up.

The difference is #11 will be gone next year. Pauly will be around for as long as he wants.
Honestly not always the answer kids. "We went to disney" and he is on the squad still.

I was just saying in my day, there was no other option. I was drafted #2 overall in the USHL draft and went to UMD. I have no regrets on how my own career played out. I just think its good that kids have more options these days and MN kids should have the option to play where they please and should have a Tier 1 option for them in MN hockey. Gets MN more on a level playing field with Ontario, BC, MI, etc. Were stuck in neutral with this HS hockey discussion. Should HS hockey continue. Yes, obviously. It is a great part of MN hockey. Should not be the only part, though.

Non talented kids cant go out of town with dad to watch a hockey game when the team has the weekend off? I bet that's news to them

If you have ALL the facts correct D3REF, then I agree with you 100%. I just dont think anyone can claim to know how it all went down without being very very close to the situation.

Are you for real?
You go from teaching life lessons to teaching kids to lie?
Baers were honest, upfront and reasonable about their trip. Pauley was sneaky, underhanded and overboard with his response.
Seems maybe Pauley (and mnpuckster) can learn a thing or two from the kid

Livin' the dream are ya? I'm happy for you.
Seems to me like you are trying to sow lots of confusion back into this discussion and take it off course, restating some obvious false rumors on page 9, that were cleared up on page 1...or maybe even get the thread locked with your personal insults.

He will reinstate when he realizes this will hamper future recruiting efforts. What top end kid is going to want to deal with this crap. He will also ge reinstated if there is an injury.
Lot of top end kids have many more options than in the past. Good for them and too bad for HS coaches that are full of themselves.

This post says it all from someone that has has lived the dream. Everyone should be able to play at which ever level they can. The more options the better. As for the kid in question. I keep hearing how he was leaving next season. Does anyone know this for sure. Perhaps he would have been happy to be the next BSM super star , and stayed through his senior year.
I guess if your not the kid or his Dad you don't know!!

Livin the dream is right. I'll leave the bickering over a kid to you fellas.
The kid can do whatever he pleases, so now his options are still very very open. Go play wherever floats your boat. He should jus be aware that he has about 20 grown fanboys wanting to spoon with him
