http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
St. Paul Academy

This is DM schedule. It is definitely the hardest in the section. DM does not have the best record but they play against good teams almost all season. Almost all of the year been ranked in the top 10 for class A, or at least top 15. They are not the best on the road, but they still win about half of their away games. Like two last games in their season, Shattuck and St. Paul Academy, they lost to Shattuck but beat SPA. If DM dose not win at the finals because it is an away game, then they should not be going to state. You have to be able to win away games. If it is SCC vs. DM in the finals, we know that DM can beat SCC(already did 5-2), if DM does not win because they are not at home then SCC is a better all around team.

Personally, i would love to see DM go to state, but either way i wish any team from 2a luck at state.

DB33 and MK, well said in support of your programs.. Very well stated.. I am in agreement that this is a pretty tough section despite what folks outside of it think. SCC went up and spanked Virginia 7-1 and beat Eveleth 5-3.. Section 2A is a tough group of teams.

My prediction for an upset is any team that looks past their next game is going to lose. You cannot be thinking about the teams to come, but only about who you are going to play now... Princeton and Sauk Rapids is going to be a real tough game, and the winner of that game has a shot at beating DM.. And if Mora and SCC meet in the semi's, it's going to be a real hard game for both teams. HOWEVER, DM's and SCC's tough schedule at the end of the season could be the deciding factor in both of those games as they could be the most prepared. If DM goes to St. Cloud for the finals, it's going to be tough for them with the travel, which they don't handle quite as well as they would like..

Tough call, and whoever gets to THE SHOW, gets my support.. DROP THE PUCK!!!!!!!!!

<img src=

I agree that any team that looks past their next game is going to lose. There are five good teams in this section, but almost all the others do have the ability to beat these teams. I would not at all be surprised to see teams that no one dreamed would be in the finals.

My prediction is that if Saint Cloud and DM meet in St. Cloud, I would pick SCC as the winner not because marshall might come out slow having to drive down, but because i think SCC is playing much better now than they have been, even though they dont play as hard of a schedule as DM they proved they can beat good teams as well. such as virginia (7-1)

Chris Long from channel 3 just came out with he's section 7a, and 2a preview.

<a href="
http://www.kdlh.com/sports/features/4/6 ...

"But the real backbone of the Hilltopper squad is in net, where Casey Geissler (.910 sv pct 1.71 GAA) and Jason Paul (.910 sv pct 2.13 GAA) have frustrated opposing scorers all season long. Geissler is expected to be the playoff goalie, and considering the season he’s had, it’s well deserved. He’s a half-goal per game better than any non-teammate (Superior’s Ben Buchs is at 2.25), three quarters of a goal better than everyone on this side of the bridge (East’s Brent Mathison is at 2.44), and almost a full goal up on the next best Single-A keeper (Falls’ Matt Loken is at 2.64). Geissler is exactly what every team wants this time of year… a calm, consistent keeper who will give his team a chance to win every single game no matter who the opponent is." Chris Long

It looks like there is not a goalie problem anymore for DM.

His previews were pretty good, but i think he was wrong with a few details. Of course he talked more about Marshall, but that figures considering he is from Duluth.

What do you think?

Edited by: <A HREF=

The fact that he called the Mora Mustangs the Jaguars alone hurts his credibility. And didnt know much about any teams but the ones up north. No report at all for Sauk vs. Princeton, which will probably be the best semifinal game.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

I agree, that would be a great game, and it was to bad there was nothing on it. But these teams are farther away from Duluth, so it is better for him to say nothing then guess about the teams and say something wrong. The truth is that he knows northland hockey, and Sauk, Princeton, Mora, and other teams in this section are not in the northland.

Over all, it is not the best 2a section preview, but he had some points right about this section.

Just thought people might want to see what he said.

You mean like the point he made about this section being a cakewalk for Marshall. I mean, they are very good, but in no way would i say they have an easy trip to the championship.

I agree, he is like everyone that thinks that 2a is a easy section. If he thinks the section is not that hard, then Marshall would have a cakewalk. He did say that SCC is a tough team. Like he said he does not know anything on Sauk, and Princeton, which are good teams.

I agree with most of the stuff he said about Marshall, because a lot of it is right. It would of been nice if he would of talked more about all the competitive teams in 2a. I email him and let him know that some of the facts were wrong, and told him that Sauk and Princeton are also good teams.

Jaguars?

Yea, living in Pine county were used to being ignored by the big cities. It is rare to see a mention for our area on Duluth or cities news. So I am not suprised by Chris Longs mistake. I have to admit he usually is very knowledgable. H/F teams are Jaguars, the combined teams tooks Moras mustang mascot.

I also e-mailed Chris Long and told him it was the Mustangs not Jaguers.

I just got an e-mail back from him. He has change it.

"Ed Note: We had the M-H-F team listed as the Jaguars previously. Apparently, that's the Hinckley-Finlayson team mascot, but we've been informed that they take Mora's 'Mustangs' name for the co-op hockey team. Thanks for the e-mails, folks!" In the PC vs DM game, man... I could see that first line for PC get pretty hot get a quick two goals, and Samulson shot down the Hilltoppers. Highly unlikely, but it could happen, because anything can happen in playoff hockey.

PC vs DM-- Dragons anyone? PC 3 DM 2
SR vs Princeton-- Princeton 5 SR 2
DD vs Mora-- DD 6 Mora 4
DC vs SCC-- SCC 5 DC 4 OT

I wanna see upsets and barnburners...

Edited by: <A HREF=

I could see it. Last year at Princeton Saumuelson faced 60 shots or so, and let in 2 goals. The dragons were out shot somwehere around 60-10, but lost 2-0. Samuelson was simplying amazing in that game, ask anyone who saw it. If he gets Hot like that, and Gross, Brandt and Schumacher start clicking put in a goal or two, they could come out with a win. I wouldnt count on it, but i wouldnt be shocked if it happened.

There is no way PC even makes this a game. The upset will be in Mora or possibly even St. Cloud! Go Duluth!

Thats what I was trying to explain p-town. I remember that game all to well, it was an amazing display. With that first line of PC being one year older, they may no how to handle the situation a little bit better being the major underdog. It would be an amazing upset, I wanna see it happen but it is highly unlikely

It will not happen, especially with their solid goalies.

Marshall lost last year in this round and i can only think that they will play even harder so it does not happen this year.
