Classic Lee reverse hex.
Not a hex just a diehard purple CEC fan lookin at the positives. 15-8 the rest of the way is pretty good. Get a top 4 seed, learned from our season ups and downs, and be healthy and rolling when playoffs hit. Not like last years flippin debockle at Grand Rapids the last game of the year. I left after 2 periods in that mess. But for better or worse, I bleed purple.
That would be a hell of a run for Cloquet to pull that off. I wouldn't hold your breath on it; they need to find someone who can put the puck in the net, and people to handle the puck in their D zone.
Agreed. A can of worms right now.

Looks like DEast with the early lead
and the Andover.
CEC needs to put together to get a home seed.
Still early on ER and GR.
See if they can argue for 3 and 4 spot.
Nice start to an interesting season.

Quiet in here with elkoholics and rapidly declining teams down. Letβs get some Randover fans into the 7AA banter

Do they exist? , Randover diehards on the forum? Elk River will be a player in 7AA this year, especially when Andover, East, and CEC all play them. Itβs too bad Andover got pissed at CEC and booted them from their regular season schedule. Grand Rapids looks like an Esse led Lumberjacks team from years gone. The spooky trick or treat machine Will be an extremely pain in my butt squad team this year.

I think CEC and Kniven slow start is purposeful to sandbag the Hounds for the regular season matchups, and also to make the playoffs more exciting later. ( Particularly when Kniven keeps saying late February on Stoy return, when many speculate by New Year?)
Also , as a favor to ACS , I guaranteed the Elks some good luck by deciding to skip their Braemar matchup with EP in favor watching the aforementioned Deast vs CEC matchup which I assume will be streamed by someone

So far this year.....not much really. A first year coach (3 different coaches last 3 years) looking for an identity. Starting from scratch, as far as a system you can hang your hat on. A nice group of kids and a fine, head coach though.

An Esse led team? What do you mean? Haha. So...they play all defense and wont get into the section final for next 10 years?

I guess thatβs one way you can look at it. At any rate, Grand Rapids will be fine this year

Right now it looks to be a 2 pony race at the top with the rest of the section decent to below average.
Hope Cloquet can get it going this week but with the player losses thats a big hole to fill
in HS hockey for any team. If the Elks can put up 7 on Flake they are back in the
mix. Can Cloquet notch its first win this week? How much success can we expect from Elkoholics in 2019?
Looks like Rapidly Declining is heading for another sub .500 season. Can they notch their first win this week?
7AA is down considerably in 2019.

Some offensive punch up front with Jrs Michaelis and Humphrey. Sr Dman Foss coming back from Odessa was a big help, but D Zone play may still be the team weakness.
With only one game in the books it's hard to say much, but a 7-6 win over Coon Rapids is not exactly a "statement game" to start the season.

It looks like a a "statement game" for Coon Rapids. When was the last time they scored 6 on Elky or played a game within 1 goal of the Elks?

Pound Puppies and Randover are loaded front runners of the section.
Thanks for update blueline_6. Hopefully both Elks and CEC can piece together a really solid year(starting this week for CEC) and make the section 7AA formidable by seasons end. Can Elks take lead in the number 3 spot early (with 4 December section games)? I'd expect a certain orange and black team to improve as season progress but with that tough schedule it might be hard to spot the improvement by seasons end, could eadily match last season abysmal performance. As it stands now, quite possible that the 4 (CEC) and 5 (Rapidly Declining, Flake, DM) of the section are sub .500 by seeding time. CEC also has killer tough schedule in 2019. 7AA fans have been spoiled with quality 7AA teams for good number of years now. It's looking to be very sub par after the top two stud teams. 'Whatya' got?

Some concerns with Elks after 1 game goes without saying. Will revisit after a few more games.

I think Grand Rapids is a legit squad this year in 7AA after beating Roseau 4-3 today. Legit meaning top 4 seed possibility.

Kniven, That may be a bit optimistic this early, but I like it. The T-hawks are a bit schizophrenic right now. They can play fast and aggressive against Virginia for 47 minutes and then meltdown in 4 minutes at the end of the game. Then they come out slow and dogging it against Roseau for 32 minutes and then suddenly kick-it in gear and play like beserkers. If they learn to channel all that energy and have control over it, the future could be bright.
Props to Coach Marinucci for re-engaging the team tonight, when everyone could have mailed-in the loss. If the seniors can lead positively by example (not dogging it and hustling start-to-finish), the youngsters will figure out winning at this level much quicker.

Gutsy win by Rapids last night scoring 4 unanswered goals to win 4-3. This team is leaps and bounds ahead of last year's mess, especially at this point in the season. Lots of young players but some good upcoming talent.
It will be interesting to follow.

What a finish in Andover!! Rabold with 2 breakaway stops, and great chances on either side, but Kron snuck it just into the corner at the end for the Huskies Win. Wow.

The East-Andover game certainly lived up to the hype. The first two periods were very cagey, with very little room to move anywhere. The depth and discipline on display was pretty impressive. East largely avoided the shaky defense we've seen a few times this season, and surprise starter Brody Rabold was more than up to the task in goal. I continue to be very impressed by the Andover D as well, with Wolfe and Kaiser in particular. East took over late in the third for the tying goal and a late flurry, but Andover bounced back well in OT, springing Schoen a couple of times before Kron got loose and picked a corner for the game-winner.
From an East perspective, not much cause for concern here. The top line needs to start turning zone time into points.
Congrats to the Huskies on a big win. We'll see if we get a rematch in a couple of months.

The Hounds have it all- speed, skill, size, coaching, pipe-line, mascot, etc.
The Huskies have a the classic underdog (no-pun) pure will, team love, trust, never quit, and now they have a taste- let the bend order, rams over, rants begins- LOL
Tony- guess what heart over skill bro- LOL

Cant give Coach Manney and kids enough credit for disciplined game plan execution of forecheck and neutral zone disruption. And Kron great shot past Rabold on tough angle short side for the winner.
Seems like Deast misses Worth true sniper ability.
But-- My biggest criticism of Deast in this game is not using size advantage more to wear opponent down. Id be surprised if they finished 10 noticeable checks. Cochran and Paine can deliver more. So can all their forwards, they have been and can be much more physical. Whether on rush to the net, in neutral ice, or forecheck. Saw it regularly last year and in the fall Elite League. It was almost like they were trying to avoid contact in this game. They are going to have to bring an appropriate contact game strategy against Tonka this winter.

Very evenly played game between Andover vs DE. Easily could have went either way. Maybe 10 seconds before Kron scored the OT winner...DE had a rush where Lyle was denied by Frizinger (barely). Psychologically, since this was Andover varsity 1st ever win over the Hounds, the victory was HUGE for them! I expect these 2 teams to meet again in mid to late February. Pretty evenly matched (talent wise) game IMO!
