He had spent the last 7 or 8 years with the Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake program. First year or two as an assistant, and then became head coach. He and the district parted ways last spring.

He is a former teacher who coached at Anoka and then coached youth hockey for a number of years and then was the Breck assistant last year.
Breck is getting a really good coach.
It shouldn't surprise anybody that some parent thinks that a former Wild player with zero coaching experience would be better because he recognizes the name.

Word is that the wealth wants the hockey team taken down. They passed up more than a "Wild" player with a name, they passed up a lot of great hockey guys for this guy who was the assistant last year. Love 'em or hate 'em, it's too bad to see a program go from the high level of coaching they had to the place they are now.

Word really is that they're a talented group that will most likely win their section this season.

Good luck to you man. Glad my school has a real coach. Even more glad they care that we have a real coach. Here there aren't a bunch of rich kids and their parents trying to take down the team with the "bussed in kids" on it. Everybodys laughing at your program dude. Sorry. Just what people are saying.

Thanks for the luck, but who really cares who's laughing at who right now? Unless Breck had a bunch of kids "bus out" when Darby wasn't named head coach they'll have a great team. Mickey Mouse could coach that talent to state. If the new coach has a bit more hockey IQ than Mickey they could probably win the whole thing. I guess we'll all have to wait and see how the season goes.
