Just because someone says 5a is better doesn't make it fact. Hell, if every person on this board says 5a is better doesn't make it fact. I hope Luverne wins Consolation and walks away from this tournament happy with their performance. I think even they will agree that in the near future playing a better schedule will take away some of the nerves when they step on the ice against a team like Hermantown. They can play with those teams I am just not sure they knew that to start the game, and as it got later and later, they understood they belonged and played like it.
...but that's one place below the Mega Bowl (not that impressive)
Great showing for LuVerne these past two games. Nice to see a "new face" show up for the party.

There will be some MORE celebrating too. Just heard Logan Norman won the Herb Brooks award! Exceptional! Can't think of a nicer kid to receive the recognition and the award. Well done.

Congrats out to Logan Norman who is taking home the Class A Herb Brooks Award. I fully understand there's MANY great kids all over the State of Hockey, but they certainly chose a Great One in this award. Well Done Logan!

Also, Coach Brown from Luverne named Class A Coach of the Year!!!, overheard that 3A Scout was going to be presenting him the award

I believe Gunnar Olson also named all tourney.

Correct! And if I'm not mistaken, I believe he also made the 2014 All Hockey Hair team!

Probably one of the most coveted awards but he only received an Honorable Mention along with Smedsrud.

Not a bad prediction on Dec. 1

Head coach should be a positive but beyond that asst. coaches have been an issue for this team for a number of years...especially on the defensive side of the puck. Goal tending is also a really big issue. Their guy had a great tournament last year but his skills are incredibly limited. There are 5 other goalies in the section who could start for Marshall. Marshall should not confuse going to state last year with having a good hockey team. Every section champ in the last 15 years would have easily beaten whoever won last year's section. Way way down. Lastly, for anyone to look past Luvern this year is in trouble. They have had trouble coming together at playoff time the last few years but don't count on that happening this year. 3 of the top 12 players in the section come from Luverne only 1 from Marshall. Huitch has the best collection of athletes and a coaching change in Willmar will help. Off the crossbar!

Nice article in the Worthington paper regarding the Luverne Cardinals http://www.dglobe.com/content/boys-hock ... in-two-ots. I believe there is one error in that the 2009 Hutchinson Tigers had the first 3A win after the new alignment, then went on to lose 3-1 to Rochester Lourdes in the Consolation Championship game.

That is false, no Olson on the AHH team.
Luverne was represented by

Smedsrud and Norman as both honorable mentions.
Frankenhoff because of his mustache
Walgrave got the wink.

Was in the daily globe as such, and distributed to the media.

I think Olson should've made it Nelson. Especially the second half of the season. Gunnar picked up his game to another level

Don't think kids who were ineligible for a portion of the season qualify for postseason accolades. Same would go for Frakes who would be a clear cut addition to this squad.

Frakes

Agreed on Frakes. That kid plays balls to the wall. Probably didn't have the most talent on the team, but he more than made up for it with effort.
