What’s the last team to win back to back state champs in AA?

I don’t think so, an ER guy is my Insurance agent, I talked to him Monday & we touched on some hockey & he didn’t mention anything about Foss returning (he’s coached in the assn for like 10 years). With JP staying in GB, I think he will stay in the NAHL.

It would be great if Foss came back, certainly not doubting (you) or your sources...and he isn’t playing in the USHL..so maybe he comes back...👍

I’ve got a reliable Elks Hockey source that has confirmed Foss’s return to Elk Hockey next week. Good for the Elks. It makes things a little more interesting in 7AA 👍

Would make it way more interesting if Perbix returned.

Foss not in the lineup for Odessa this weekend, would seem to support this. Good news for the Elks, who I have heard had less than 40 kids come out for high school hockey this year.

Brink was gone the day he went to Juniors. We should not be surprised.

Saw today MN Magicians tweeted out that they’ve signed Ricky Lyle to a tender after he joined them for the Alaska road trip. I don’t know how I could be reading that wrong, but this news surprises me. Why would one of the top returners from one of the top 3-4 teams in the state leave so late in the game for the NAHL (a very good and improving league but no ushl), especially when they got so close to winning it last year? Big loss for Hounds.

I’d been thinking just for the Alaska trip , then again next spring, meanwhile back to Deast ?

Signing a tender does not equal a "big loss for Hounds"

Definitely disappointed as a Tonka fan, but I don't doubt he has great guidance around him to know what's best. His NHL Central Scouting rating is now up to a "B" in the latest rankings. =D>

What are the tender rules in NAHL? Is that a tender for next season/later this season? I read it as he’s on the team now, but like I said in OP, I could be reading it wrong. Are they just picking up his rights before somebody else?

Basically. He could play immediately or go to camp with them for next season. I am pretty sure all it means is that he has to play for the Magicians if he plays in the NAHL.

The only way this is a big loss for the Hounds is if he plays for the Magicians instead of Duluth East. That may or not be the case when you sign a tender.

Other Minnesota kids played some games in the NAHL. I believe Gavin Rasmussen from Cloquet scored a goal for the Wilderness.

Seeing a lot of tenders signed for NAHL teams. They are a lot more prevalent than USHL tenders.

I’m 99.9% sure the tender relates to Ricky Lyle (playing for them) in 2019-2020. And it may relate to taking the Alaska road trip too. But...If he wasn’t at DE practice today (or won’t be joining them for the HS season)...then a Lightning Bolt will likely strike me yet tonight 😳😉.

Got it, thanks O-Town. Obviously was assuming the signing meant automatic he was going there instead of DE, hence the big loss. Glad to hear it’s not certain in NAHL like USHL typically is (in USHL a tender counts as your first round draft pick and they have to play a certain number of games that season, so essentially always means if they’re a high school player they are doing juniors instead).

I’m sure Karl can/will enlighten us with this soon as practices started today.

Should get 40-45 points for Deast plus he is a big body forechecker , and tournament tested . He is a key reason why Hounds should be ranked in top 3 for sure .

The tender means no one can draft him in the spring NAHL draft and that they own his rights. Doesn't mean he is playing for them in the winter - which I doubt he is. I assume he'll rejoin the team in the spring after DE is finished. It also doesn't mean he is guaranteed a spot either for next year. There are tenders across the league that guys get cut in tryouts - then they are free agents and can join any team. Also, some teams tender guys that they might lose to USHL, BCHL or another league - but it locks them for the rights in the NAHL.
