Here's the best example I could quickly find:
Fri Jan 25 Benilde-St. Margaret's 9 St. Francis 0
http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_OA_20130125.htm (AM edition - before the game) said:
BSM was #2
St. Francis was #104
http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_OA_20130126.htm (after the game) said:
BSM was # 2 (unchanged)
St. Francis was #103 (moved up 1 spot)
I know it is only a very poor sample size (n=1) - but it doesn't seem to indicate that what was suggested earlier is always true (at least).

I would guess that EPDad's example would only work if we were early enough in the season for 1 game to make that much of a difference. After 15/20/25 games, playing a top-ranked team should not impact your SOS much. In cases like this, it helps me (at least) to look at extreme examples in order to understand. Let's say a team played 1 game and had the lowest SOS. Then, they played Tonka or Benilde in game #2. I would guess their SOS would now be somewhere in the middle, so would perhaps jump 60 spots or so. But their W/L percentage, which has a higher weight than SOS, would be almost twice as bad, so they would drop because of that. At the end of the day, they would probably move up the rankings some amount
If a team were 2-22 and lost to Benilde to make them 2-23, their W/L percentage would be virtually the same and their SOS would be virtually the same since 1 strong team is not going to move the needle much based on the previous 24 weak or average teams. W/L percentage still trumps SOS and timing could possibly trump both W/L and SOS.

Obviously KRACH treats the State Tournament games (including the Championship games) exactly the same as the regular season games.
For example in Class A I see that Warroad is still on top by a factor of more than two, whereas the final "human polls" (including AP/LPH) will no doubt have Blake on top in Class A even though they are just 3rd here...
And in AA it's probably safe to assume BSM will take a pretty big drop (they were No. 1 in AP/LPH as of last week) and Hill-Murray should finish as runner-up to Tonka (as they should).
Lakeville North (No. 6 in final KRACH, No. 9 in last week's AP/LPH) should also move up as should Eagan (currently No. 15 in both).
Eden Prairie (Nos. 3/4) will likely move down just a bit and Mounds View (No.s 4/3) quite a bit in the final AP/LPH which will come out in two days.

You are correct. No weighting for either the most recent games or Sections/State.
Is it correct to discount a BSM-like team so greatly? Are they really worse than other teams that made it to state just because they lost in an amazing section?
I can see the Warroad/Blake adjustment being legit based on the outcome of that game.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I feel the correction just prior to, or immediately after, the state tourney in the LPH polls always seemed a little extreme to me - even though I understand why it is happening.

Yep, me too. The final AP/LPH poll(s) are always heavily influenced - possibly too heavily influenced - by what happened in the State Tournament(s).

Just for the fun of it I totaled up the KRACH ratings for each of the sections in AA. Listed in order of toughest to weakest:
6AA - 2,367
2AA -- 677
5AA -- 575
4AA -- 487
1AA -- 359
3AA -- 324
8AA -- 176
7AA -- 129
AVG. - 637
Taking just the top 4 teams into account:
6AA - 2,157
2AA -- 611
5AA -- 454
4AA -- 453
1AA -- 351
3AA -- 238
8AA -- 160
7AA -- 114
AVG. - 567
While not an exact science this gives a rough representation of how imbalanced the sections were this season.
Draw your own conclusions!
P.S. Thanks again to ghshockeyfan for posting all of the KRACH information each week.

No surprises on the distribution; it appears to be another validation of Section 6AA's strength.

This maybe for another topic. . what is the maximum allowed games for HS Girls as per MSHL?
Some teams (Minnetonka and EP) have as many as 31 games listed. Some team have 25 games listed.
The boys are limited to 25 games maximum.
How does this affect the KRACH rankings?

The maximum number of games in the regular season is 25. Teams that played 3 games in Sections plus another 3 games in the State Tournament can have as many as 31.
KRACH isn't affected except insofar as some teams will have more (or less) games played that go into the rankings, at any point in time. Thus in the final rankings that ghshockeyfan just posted Minnetonka would have 31 games that were calculated in their ranking (point total) whereas the rankings for most other teams would be based on a fewer number of games (however many they did play against MSHSL teams).
