Going through some game stats, noticed Fitzer from Luverne scored a hat trick against Worthington in 13 seconds. Is that right? If so, someone should check where that stands against the fastest hat trick recorded. WOW!
Bender, did Marshall play the AA or AAA Sioux Falls team? Its listed as the AA team on Hockey Hub but that can't be right. Big game for the Tigers tomorrow against Morris/Benson, conference title is on the line. Would be a great game to attend.
Hopefully the weather holds out the next couple of weeks, alot of games to get in before playoffs, Im sick of moving snow!!!.
Varsity played the AAA and Jv played the AA. From what i understand it was an ugly game but a win none-the-less. OT shootout Win. maybe that can swing some momentum.

whoever gets the #1 seed wont make it to state. look at the past 3 years
2010: Hutch was #1, lost to litch
2009:NU was #1, lost to Hutch
2008:NU was #1, lost to Litch

interesting point. Seeding of the top 4 doesnt matter. Honestly it doesnt. New Ulm is the "best" team no doubt. however. Any of the top four is capable of beating any other in the top 4.

big section match up tonight. Hutch vs. Litch 7 oclock in Hutch
Last time out, hutch won 2-1 in ot. both teams played well and this game tonight could very well determine who gets the #1 seed in sections. what are peoples thoughts?
like take hutch in this one 3-1

Hutch and Litch should be a good game...I look for Litchfield to win this one 5-3(empty netter). However I think that the #1 seed will be decided tonight in New Ulm.
If New Ulm beats Marshall tonight...they clearly will get the #1 seed. If they lose and Litch wins tonight...then I think Litch gets the #1 seed.
I'll take New Ulm over the Tigers 6-2! The Eagles are due for a big game...since they've droped 3 straight! I think they will use that big sheet of ice to there advantage. Any thoughts on the outcome of the NU/Marshall game?
I think any of the top 4 seeds can win this section! New Ulm CAN be3 good, but they are not consistant! They don't play together at times and there coaches don't seem to make any adjustment during the course of a game. That's another negative against the Eagles!
Goodluck to both teams!
It should be an intersting 2 1/2 weeks until play-offs! Who's gonna pick it up, and who's gonna pack it in!

Cudos to Hutch. I'm surprised they scored 6 goals!?
Also, NU beat Marshall 3-0 but it was at a cost. One of the center pieces and go getter for NU (Adam Loose) is done for the year..

not surprised. Litch's goaltending will hold them back from reaching state. Yeah their numbers look good but Litch plays the most solid defense of anyone in this section. A good goalie would be stopping 95% on Litch's team given their defense and schedule.

loose seperated his shoulder for the 3rd time in about 4 months on a blindside hit at center ice. He is having surgery soon to save his baseball season. looks like they will move either pfaff(#9) or Schrekenberg(#13) up to that first line

It could, but their goaltending just has to be good enough come section time. They need timely goaltending that's consistent for a three game stretch, not an entire year. Rosemount had a team go 1-24 and lost to Greenway in the state finals back in the early 90's.
sad to hear about adam loose, he's a good player with a great attitude, a huge asset to the eagles..he's going to be missed, making this section even more up for grabs.

I agree that Loose will be a tremendous loss for NU...Juntunen and Peterson will be hurt the most! I guess the best move would be to move Pfaff into that slot since he's skated with Juntunen most of his hockey life. He belongs there anyways. He plays both ways and has great hockey savey. He'll get the 2 snipers the puck, just lacks the speed that Loose has. But he has the better hands. We'll see what moves are made. I thought the hit Loose took was late and a penalty should have been called.
NU should be the #1 seed now with Hutch #2 Litch #3 and Marshall #4. I'm SHOCKED that Hutch scored 6 goals! That came outta nowhere! Maybe the Tigers are starting to gel offensively...a good thing to start right before play-off time..look out for these guys as a sleeper to pick win the section, NU only beat them 1-0..Hmmm????
NU schedule hurts them the rest of the of the regular season...the only decent team they play is Northfield. That may hinder them in the play-offs!?!? Who's gonna step up for the absence of Loose? It won't be #5 or #3....Pfaff or Shreckenberg???? Pfaff is capable of putting the puck in the net, he's the one that MUST step up for this team to win the section. Oh...and Burgaw has to be consistant...he wasn't even challenged last night only seeing 11 shots. NU's 3 senior "D" have played solid(#16, #18,#11)all season. That will need to continue. Can the Eagles repeat as Section 3A Champions? It won't be easy.

Let's get real, this section is always up for grabs by whoever plays well down the stretch. The Hutch/Litch game seems to prove that Hutch is finally coming together and figuring out how to put some pucks in the net. NU has shown some consistency, but will there weak schedule hurt them? I really think that NU, Litch, Hutch, and Marsh will battle for the section

WOW!!!!!! gr8hkymind, You sure don't try to hide who you are. NU has to do one thing to be sucessfull in the post season. PLAY AS A TEAM!!!!!
The players (and their parents) need to realize that they are not superstars. They need balanced scoring and good old teamwork. That being said it could be a tough road for the Eagles. I disagee that NU should pull from the second line to fill the Adam L. spot. They cannot afford to lose any scoring from that line.

Slapper you are right any team that wants to make it to State in the sec, has to play as a team!! There are no real superstars on any of the teams. That being said one or two players came make a big differance on a team. Though loss for the eagles, can they fill that spot?

Greetings Section 3A Followers,
Another week that was affected by weather. Can’t wait for this snow to be over with so we can get my high school hockey in.
With only two weeks left we have 4 Real Contenders. 5-10 have no shot really. With Loose going down for New Ulm its up for grabs!!
Section 3A Rankings (2-6-2011)
1. New Ulm (13-4-2)
2. Hutchinson (8-12-0)
3. Litchfield Dassel Cokato (13-7-1)
4. Marshall (12-5-3)
5. Luverne (12-6-0)
6. Redwood Valley (9-10-2)
7. Sleepy Eye (8-11-0)
8. Windom (4-13-0)
9. Fairmont (3-14-1)
10. Worthington (0-16-0)
1. New Ulm- The clear favorite is showing some dents though key injuries to 1sr Liner Loose leave the Eagles very beatable come playoff time.
2. Hutchinson- There wins over Marshall and TWICE over LDC give the Tigers the two spot even with a less then impressive overall record.
3. LDC- Is struggling a bit need to get back on track. The Dragons confuse me at times still play great in their D-zone will be tough to beat.
4. Marshall- Are now Locked into the 4 seed… Will need Noble to steal a game to get into the championship. Major lack or scoring???
5. Luverne- Getting worse looks like Sleepy Eye or Windom will beat these guys this week I think
6. Redwood- Beat Sleepy Eye and then pounded Fairmont Redwood’s stock is up.
7. Sleepy Eye- Tough week for the Indians Should of beat Luverne would have been huge for their cause.
8. Windom- Big win over Waseca has a big week coming up!
9. Fairmont- The wheels have completely come off in Fairmont….
10. Worthington- Only 2 more weeks then the nightmare will be over Mr. Chirstopherson…..
Big Section 3A Games
Windom vs. Fairmont- With a Sweep over Fairmont Windom can lock up the 8 seed and home playoff game
Sleepy Eye vs. Luverne- Should of beat Luverne on Friday they will beat them on Thursday!!
Another good week Ahead!!

If seedings are picked on what the teams are capable of today hutch gets #1, litch 2 and 3 would go to new ulm. if its by record i'm wrong but the outcome will probably be the same. hutch.
1. Hutchinson- in many peoples eyes has moved from a weak 4 seed to at least #2. recently has the ability to score. a defense thats good enough in sect. 3 sends them to state
2. LDC-Floundering a bit at a bad time. D keeps them in the running
3. New Ulm- one player should'nt matter that much but in small towns it does. if setterholm can adjust they could pull it off
4. Marshall started the season with a feeble effort at Hutch and last week was essentially owned by new ulm which played a good bit of the game without Loose. Has not developed over the course of the season. With the people they have they should be much better. Probably beats luverne.

Your right one player shouldnt matter that much but loose was the heart of that first line and now they need to adjust to playing without him. I however still think they are the outright top team in this section. hutch has been scoring as of late but how long can they keep up scoring 6 or 7 a game especially during playoff time.LDC caught a few more lucky bounces and a few calls that were a little chincy last time they played the eagles. i just think now that new ulm did the best thing by moving up shreckenberg to play with juntunen and peterson, the kids got a motor that wont quit and he skates hard every time out. still no doubt we will be seeing the eagles in march come state tourney time
