Burnsville 5
Edina 4
Well played game. 3 or 4 lead changes. Edina shorten the bench for the 3rd and put a lot of pressure on B'ville, but the B'ville goalie stood tall. D 6 is going to be a tight race all year.

Scores from the first round of the Burnsville Tourney (played Wednesday night):

Burnsville-5
Apple Valley-1

These two teams always play at their best against each other. Tonight, Apple Valley's goalie played well. Burnsville's center in the first 5 seconds of the game, took the center face-off, split the Apple Valley defense and charged the goalie. The goalie held his position, took none of the fakes, and stopped the Burnsville center. He had to that at least a half dozen times in the next few minutes until Valley carried the puck into the offensive zone and scored off a melee in front of the Burnsville net.

Burnsville tied the score near the end of the first period on a freak goal when an Apple Valley defense man tried to play goalie and made a kick save right into the net. Valley hung in most of the second period, before the Blaze forwards converted a couple of loose pucks in the Apple Valley zone into quick goals to take a 4-1 lead into the third period. They added a fifth goal early in the third period to win 5-1. That win gave the Blaze 11 points toward the pool #1 seed under the tourney's modified scoring system. Valley got a single point.

Jefferson-4
St. Louis Park-3

It was an up and down game that ended with the Jags hanging on as the Orioles pulled their goalie in the final minutes. St. Louis Park has a fun player to watch this year. The Jags won 10 pts toward the pool championship, the Orioles 2 pts. Last year the Jags upset Woodbury to knock them out of the tourney. Their next opponent is Woodbury and a win could put the Jags in the Championship round on Sunday.

ANOKA 5

ANDOVER 5

After winning the SLP tourney, Anoks appears hungover, spotting Andover 2-0 and 4-1 leads before scoring 3 third period goals for a 5-4 lead, only to allow Andover to tie it with 90 seconds remaining on a 4-2 rush, following a botched Anoka line change. All and all, a just ending for both teams.
