Game is in OT 3-3. Edina scored with about 20 secs left...the goal was knocked off. Allowed because they said the goaltender is the one that bumped it. A lot of drama, can't tell how controversial it was from the radio.
Hard to believe people anywhere can listen to this game. Things have certainly changed in the communication age.
Hooking call on Edina. The color commentator hasn't been happy with any of the penalties called against Edina. I wonder if he's a homer or if the calls are really one-sided!
Fun to listen to. Fidler's dad and Nanne's grandpa played in the NHL. There was a Yon on the Gophers and a Helgeson at Madison. I seem to remember a Vatnsdal...perhaps from the state HS tournament in the 1980s. Add in a Broten. I think Malmquist's dad played in college too.
Whoever loses is in for a tough night. Sounds like a great Pee Wee game.
Yon just scored. Game over. Roseau to the final. Congrats! Cinderella run ends.

O-Town way to dance. The final goal was on a power play, the announcer's also hated that call, I hadn't heard the rest having been listening to the bantam game. The call was made with less than 2 to go in the first OT.

The feed thought there was plenty of controversy with the reffing.
Yon's dad did play at the U. Broten is a second cousiin. Helgesons dad is the former Badger. The goalie Anderson's dad is the former Boston Bruin.

Great game by both teams. I was at game and have no dog in fight. My opinion on refs. Disallowed edina goal with about 3 minutes left was horrible call. Edina goal with 20 seconds left was right call. (loved the goal judge being summoned to penalty box for HER opinion. She probably was fulfilling her last 2 hours of volunteer time and decided goal judge was better than selling nachos at concession. Didn't realize she would be crucial in final outcome of game). Penalty on Edina in overtime was good call, even in ot. My opinion, I'm sure others have theirs but regardless, heck of a game. Park Woodbury heck of a game, as well as Edina Wayzata last night. Great tournament.

Roseau is a a heck of a team and I feel they will beat Woodbury tomorrow but that call in OT was terrible. The Edina team was not getting any love from a HORRIBLE officiating crew. You'd think they could find better officials to work a semi-final game. Great game by both teams however. Yon is going to be a big time player.

Ok...I've been at every game (championship round) game this tourney, I disagree that the Edina goal that was disallowed was BS. Clearly player was in crease, and ref blew whistle well before goal was scored. Refs made the right call with 18 seconds left on the game tying goal because puck was in net then the goal came off the moorings. Edina had all the mojo going for them, and I would've bet they were going to win. They were the stronger team at the end of the game. Just couldn't seal the deal. Props to Roaeau though, a real good team that will be a fine representative in the Championship game.
Mpls Park/Woodbury was also a fantastic state tourney game. I thought Woodbury had the better "team", but Park has some very good player that drove their team to the brink if a state title game(#7,#5,#4). I was very impressed with how far the Park team has come since I saw them last in the EP tourney after Thanksgiving. They did belong in this tournament.
Apologize for typing discrepancies and brief tone, but that's what you get when posting from a phone. Plus, first time poster...go easy on me.

I see Owatonna scored 2 goals. Congrats to the Huskies!

Yes it was good for the Huskies to not get shut-out (goals scored by two brothers). The level of play was much faster and quicker then the competition they have been playing. The Huskies will be better off for going and playing some top teams, they know they must work harder in the off season if they want to compete at this level.

I'm trying to listen to the Roseau/Woodbury game on mnsportsnetwork.com but it won't work. i click on it and the new window comes up like it usually does, but not audio or "scoreboard" that would usually be there... Anyone know of a direct link that will work? Or any other way of listening to this game online?

It hasn't started yet. Be patient.

Well.......Great call from Watchdog and others that backed Roseau. From the start they were there- back to the early season weekend they had a hickup and have responded since. No doubt - what else can be said- State Champs.
Any comments now folks?? We are all waiting for the excuses that they are not #1. If smart, your mouth will be silent and your typing will quit.
Fire it up next year-
Roseau silenced the critics.

I was wrong. Edina was a better team than I thought. Taking Roseau into overtime was a huge success and those boys should be proud.
I'm beginning to agree with those that wanted a ranking system like that in high school. I don't believe the best two teams met in the championship game.

How is that going to accomplish anything? By ranking, the 2 best teams didn't play in the HS championship game.
The best teams played for the championship. Everyone else had been beat. Do it all over again and it is likely that Roseau doesn't win, but it is a one shot deal, no mulligans.
Congrats to Roseau.

AMEN Spin-o-rama! Roseau won the ship fair and square. Congrats to Roseau for winning 3 games in a row. The youth tournaments DO NOT need any further massaging to please a handful of metro associations. The governing body is set up to serve the ENTIRE state of Minnesota and the regional rotations work. I do not recall Edina demanding a ranking system last season when they knocked Grand Rapids out in the Pee Wee A Championship.

Agreed. The state tournament is about finding the ONE best team, not about always trying to match the TWO best teams together in the finals. If you're the best you should be able to beat anyone regardless of your opponent

i was at the tourney and watched almost every game. every team their played their hearts out. it was great hockey to watch and my hats off to every team. woodbury in the final well personally i thought edina was a better team than woodbury but they beat edina in regions they beat wayzata not to long ago also they must have something! on top of that they beat a very good blaine and mpls/park team to get to the final. i felt roseau played their best game against woodbury it looked to me like their nerves finally seattled down. these kids have had alot of pressure on them from the beginning of the season and lets face it this was the state tourney first trip for these young kids. im not gona sit on here and do the i told ya so ect.. i beleived in this group of kids not just their talent but as people. these kids do everything together and their all friends. that to me is what makes this group of parents and kids a special brand. theirs no fighting no trouble in the locker room its just one great unit. i sat in the middle of the woodbury fans during the title game and they were great people. i heard nothing but positives and great sportsmans ship. as for the refs in the tourney outstanding!!!!!! very professional and key very consistant throughout! i read some post about bad officiating against edina but what you didnt hear is edina had more power plays than roseau in that game and the calls were bad on several but thats always going to happen as long as its consistant it doesnt matter. one of the edina players is the best actor ive ever seen on ice he may have a job in films one day. he got a bogus call in every game ive seen roseau play edina this year. sooner or later he'll get that diving call and i hope im their to see it. have a great summer
