It should be noted that because of this injury, my fantasy team is about to take a dirt nap this season, but I am
such a team player I still find this to be good news.

I can't recall a time where Gardy called upon Nathan to close a game where it was this in hand. With the Sox already losing once and down a bunch in the 9th in game #2, I say Gardy takes no chances and brings in Nathan.
We'll see.

Just a reminder of the contestents and their winning numbers.
IS 96 (and a new thread)
Neut 95
ER 94
Govs 93
PB 92
sinbin 91
tomASS 90
boblee 89
UNS 88
But remember, this is the number of wins that the division winner will have.
A cold one at the Liffey is on the line. You must be present to claim your prize.
Allright , time for a reset.
At the current pace, 90 is the number which would give tomASS the coveted prize.
18 games left to play or , as some would say, bales left in the field.
10 at home for the Twins and 8 at home for the Sox.
Seems like an advantage for the Twins, especially since they have the Sox here for 3 of those.
The Twins however have a tough 4 game series in TB. Sox go to NY but ER's Yankees arent playing for anything except 3rd place and nobody in NY cares about that.
Should be interesting.

Interesting (but not all that surprising) stat from LaVelle today:
The Sox are 8-32 in games in which they don't hit a homerun.
Uhh... Gardy... During that Sox series at the end of the month, you may want to keep the Boofer under wraps.

Interesting, reading the sports page in the Red Star over lunch reveals that the Twins and Sox have the exact same home record but the Sox have one more road win which is the amount of the lead.
The Factor lives.

Sorry OGEE.
The OGEE Angle was one of my favorite segments on The Factor
I deleted you one loss too soon. I am such an idiot.
Hopefully, you will be alive for a few games more.

No problem, I was kinda of a late entry anyways. It does help to no the right people.
I enjoyed the
Factor, just curious did you have anything planned for a 3rd segment of the
No Spin Zone, after the Republicans left town?

Somebody is singing a different tune all of a sudden!
Don't wory PB, your seat on the bandwagon is still available... We knew you'd be back!

Well OGEE, I had toyed with the idea of "The Final Factor" as stage 3 when Big Mac and his new girl friend left town so as to feature the last road trip vs TB and the suddenly competitive CLE club.
But Mitch and Lee pulled the plug on that so they could have their own little political thread without any competition from The Factor.
Govs, The Factor does not sing a tune nor get on bandwagons.
It only reports, in a fair and balanced manner, what the situation is........so long as its OK with the left leaning board admins.
Also, The Final Factor has not yet played out.
So stay tuned and leave the Spin in the political thread.

OGEE is still alive for the stretch drive.
So is this thread as there are still enough bales out there to win 96.
The curent pace is 90.5 wins so its right in between tomASS and sinbin.
Gotta continue to beat up on KC.

You guys are all still forgetting the big thing....
The Sox collapse! Konerko going down is the beginning, Twin's don't exaclty set the world afire and bingo bango, 88 wins for the Twins = Central Division Champs!

I see UNS is still going with the Sox collapse
Spin
The only thing that has collapsed is the Twins bullpen.
Interesting though, Gardy sticks up for his bullpen in the Red Star today in Reusse's column and points out that if they were executing on offense , the pen would have a little margin for error.
Hmm, where have we heard that before?
Interesting, the Sox pen gives up a bunch last night but they still win.
Whats the point you ask?

2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. KC sends Bale to the mound. Irony?
Guess not, Casilla fouls out to end the threat. Next inning we get a Bale...

That was one of the worst losses of the season.
They had Liriano going vs KC to sweep and they cant score 3 Boofin runs in 10 innings.
If Sox win tonight, they go on the road down 2.

16 bales needed
16 bales still in the field

No way OGGE gets #89. We were happy to let him in late at 97 but 89 is too good a number right now to give it away. Now, that doesn't mean offers would not be entertained.
The Final Factor begins tonight.
10 games on the road with BAL, CLE and TB.
Will the Sox series have any meaning if they play like they did on the last trip?
The Red Star is calling yesterdays loss another one given up by the bullpen. Can't score 3 runs in 10 innings vs KC and its the bullpen's fault?
The bullpen has been shaky but when this team struggles, more times than not an inconsistent offense is involved.
I dont know what to say really. They are in hell right now. They can stay there and get the ship kicked out of them or they can claw their way out inch by inch.
So, in order to do that, what do they need to do?
