Northfield 6
Albert Lea 3
It was a closer game than the score indicates. Albert Lea controlled much of the game I thought but just lost it towards the end of the second period. Northfield didn't play as well as they could have. I don't know enough about Albert Lea to speak to how they did, but again, it's still early in the season.

I agree, both teams skated well, both teams made mistakes. The score happens to show who was able to Capitalize on those opportunities. but you are right it is way to early in the season to make a call on which teams will meet in the end, but I have a good feeling AL and Northfield will meet again under greater circumstances. Great job to both teams!!!!

-That was a fun early season game.
-Good work coaches

, I was quite impressed with both teams considering it's so early in the season.
-I thought NFLD did a real nice job moving the puck up the ice in transition.
-10 and 7 for NFLD very nice players.
-I thought NFLD was the faster team.
-Gotta give the slight edge to AL for goaltending.
-AL started looking tired about half way through, which is an easy fix

"everybody on the line"
-Inability to finish will be AL's achille's heel this year.
Is the gal who lay injured in the front entry ok? I was right behind her walking out and down she goes.

I would have to say from watching northfield so far this year that they are the biggest threat to this section. They have good shots and fast skaters. BIG players as well.
Albert Lea hasn't really caught my eye yet. Maybe they will start playing together.
Austin however has a new team. Fast players and should be better soon. But the season has just started so it could be a complete surprise. Just like last year was.

I also want to give a shout out to Waseca. They are terrible, but give them credit for still cheering for teammates until the end of the game. They left the ice with smiles on their faces...we all could learn a thing or two from that.
Why would I care about Faribault 4 on 4 game, I am not even from Faribault. Just an outsider looking in. And come on who really took that thing serious, it was extra time for the girls to skate.
Now about the AL vs Nfld, I am guessing the AL braggers will calm down a bit. Nfld beat Austin too!

Hockeygroupie is getting very offensive here. Why is your team in trouble.
To bad I dont know what team you're on. I only say that because I can't wait to see your team get smashed! Season just started teams will turn around.

I am enjoying the banter. First of all, I will not claim hockeygroupie as one of my brotheren, from the elite town of Faribault. He/She is most likely close to those great youth hockey coaches in Rochester.
Looks like Albert Lea is not much better than Austin. What do you expect, the same gene pool. Who really picked Albert Lea to do well?

(Jet)

Early in the season.....yea no implosion yet.
I stated earlier, it all comes down to the Big 3, FARIBAULT, northfield, and redwing.
By the way, I believe RSI had something to do with the injured player. He was right there and down she went. Was it the smell? or something eaten at that nice concession stand.
north field is 2-0 in 1A. congrats.

Careful 89 or whatever your new name is, should be "whining slow play" or "it's AL fault", I saved your e-mail!! The statement about the injured girl is way out of line. I was there also. I stayed and helped medically until she left via ambulance. This girl could have serious, possibly life changing injuries. So before you open you big mouth, and make a bigger ass of yourself, THINK.
And who gives a dam about section 1A in the big picture, when they play the good teams in the state, Blake, Roseau, Breck, Warroad, Hibbing-Chilsom ect, its like U14 against a High School. Look at the State scores of austin-vs-Breck or Roseau. Lets hope they play for fun, have fun and are good students and people. Congrats to NF, both teams played a nice game. My thoughts and prayers are out to you young one, 100% recovery quickly, hope to see you at the next AL-NF meeting

So who did get hurt? Al lea girl or Northfield? Was this after game, during? Was she sick?
No one likes to see anyone get injured, I don't think anyone would like that for thier teammate or child.
I hope she is ok also. Also, if you hate the 1A why are you on this forum. I hear Faribault plays Mound/W.Tonka so they are a cities team right? We will see what happens there!

Does anyone on this forum realize that the girls are the ones skating? We are supposed to be here to support our kids not here bashing other parents or other skaters. Good luck to all the girls playing hockey this year, whether you are here for the love of the game, fun, friends or a serious hockey player wanting to go on further after high school.

Just talked to a friend in NF, she's doing fine and will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think I said I hated 1A hockey, just trying to put it the proper light. But I guess it's easier to call people dumb, retarded, your town sucks, were the greatest blah blah blah. Good luck to the girls, play hard, have fun, get a good education, because girls hockey is tough to make a living at. It will help teach lessons that will help you to be successful!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah she is fine now. Doctors said it was dehydration.
I think this will be a fun season if all the teams can keep it up. Northfield especially seems to have a habit of starting strong but never staying strong. And I agree that both coaches have done a nice job preparing their teams in so little time, although having many returners helps.

LMAO. Puck hog... take your meds and attend a few more anger management classes. I give a dam about section 1A and so do many other people. Mac15 wrote:Faribault looks real good in the 4x4 league. Bergland is skating very well. Salmonson and Dickison also look good.
Northfield is also looking good. Dvorak has been scoring a lot. In last weekend's games they had 2 player that weren't wearing the regular league jerseys that looked real good too. One of them has a pretty strong slapper.
If the majority of each school's players are skating in the 4x4 league, I would say that these 2 will be sitting on top of the section.
I agree with Mac15.....As of now these are the most impressive teams yet. Altho' Faribault hasn't played any tough competition(Saturday they play Mound/West Tonka rated 11th) yet have some very good players.

Gonna miss ya puck hog.
Back to a positive influence. The Green machine's section 1A player's of the week. Congrats to:
Maren Dvorak, (Northfield), with 4 goals and 2 assists, in two section 1A games. Off to a great start.
Sam Stark, (Northfield), goalie, 93% save. Nicely done against Albert Lea and Austin.
Lauren Klick, (Albert Lea) hat trick against Northfield.
Congrats on an opening week.

Funny, like where could I wear that? Tiger city?
That would be like the nut job that wears the falcons89 jersey, at the Albert Lea/Faribault games. There is someone with dangerous habits.
Better yet, instead of a sweatshrt, how about a donation to Faribault Girls high school hockey?
Rest in Peace, Puck hog.

Heard it was a great game. Faribault goalie was outstanding. Kuehl was shot down by the defense of Faribault, and Salmonsen and Bergland were on top of thier game.

Travelled over to the Faribault game Saturday. If they play like this all season, they will be tough to beat. I hate to agree with groupie, but Salmonsen and Bergland did play well. I am sure it was just an oversight on her part...because I saw about four other girls play at the top of their game. The impressive thing is that they, for the first time in years, played as a team, unselfish and all out. Mound/Wstka was ranked 11th?
And groupie, we all know you are from Faribault...its ok...Faribault is a nice town.

Like you dont know who falcon 89 is. I believe last year you said you would stay off this forum if Austin went to state. And they did. I believe you're just mad because your team has never been to state. Austin killed your team last section.
Back to this new season. Austin has really quick players, Albert Lea has all basically all of their last year team back. Hopefully they play stronger than last. And Faribo, what can I say. Falcon 89 you just fill it in. I have nothing to say. Northfield I agree they start out strong but dont stay that way. Maybe it will be different this year.

All the girls played well. The goalie totally kept them in the game. I have seen her play before and this had to be one of her better games. I can only comment on those 2 because I have seen them play for other teams. They to may have been on top of thier games as well.
I saw the last few minutes of the Faribault 14 team and they killed Mound/w.tonka 9-0 and that most are moving up to varsity next year. A parent said they may not be a having a 14 team and are looking at having a JV. I noticed that a few of those girls play better than some of the Varsity girls. Faribault might be tough for the next few years.
I would not be embarassed to say I was from Faribault but am not, it is a nice town, we ate at a restaraunt that was referred to us, has a bowling alley in it, can't remember name but the ribs were awesome.
