Gardiner is the real deal in every aspect of his play. I still can't believe no one even asked for a review or talked about it.
IT WAS CLEARLY IN, I had a great angle on it and so did those around me. We were dumbfounded.
UND, be honest, how many beers did you have before the game?

Hey #23 from BSM - Did Gardner's shot go in and out as some have mentioned? Be as honest as you were about the hand gesture.

As I stated before, I thought Benidle had a chance, given their senior leadership and it proved out at the end.

no at the end of the second it hit the post and shot back and the one they waived off was a good call we hit the puck before they did and we had a penalty on us

Pat, don't reason with these guys. They are just trying to illegitimize a nice win for BSM.

First off it was not a shot that he took it was a redirect from behind him, A great play never the less, but no way does a redirect go all the way into the back of the net and then bounce 2 - 3 feet out of the net the whole time staying perfectly flat on the ice. Also it was one of the few times a referee was actually in position to see if it went in.

minnetonka benilde phantom goal

I am not talking about the goal that was waived off, that was a good call.

THE SHOT AT THE END OF THE SECOND DID NOT HIT THE PIPE. IT WENT IN 1 FOOT INSIDE THE PIPE, HIT THE RAIL ON THE ICE AND CAME STRAIGHT BACK OUT. I HAD A PERFECT ANGLE ON IT AND SO DDI EVERYONE ELSE IN THE BENILDE SECTION I WAS SITTING IN.

IT WAS CLEARLY A GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT EVERYONE THOUGHT HIT THE PIPE, BUT IT DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I know you are full of it! Minnetonka was at the opposite end of the ice from the Benilde fans at the end of the second. I want what you been smokin'.

HOCKEYXPRT1 YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY NOT THERE OR IF YOU WERE YOU HAD YOUR HEAD SOMEWHERE ELSE, RBK2090 SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE STILL BITTER FROM LOSING TO MINNETONKA LAST TIME AND HAPPY YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN.

FOR ME, I AM JUST AN OBJECTIVE COLLEGE SCOUT WHO LOVES WATCHING GREAT HIGH SCHOOL GAMES.

I AM NOT A MINNETONKA FAN, A BENILDE FAN NOR DO I EVEN KNOW GARDINER. GARDINER'S SHOT WENT IN AND OUT LIKE A BULLET AND OBVIOUSLY GUYS LIKE YOU AS WELL AS THE REFS DID NOT SEE IT. I DO KNOW THE COACHES NOW KNOW. IT HAS BEEN REVIEWED ON TAPE.
OH WELL.

AS FOR MY TWO CENTS ON THE GAME OTHER THAN THIS. THE FIRST TWO PERIODS LOOKED LIKE AN NHL TEAM PLAYING A PEE WEE TEAM. EVERY PUCK CHASE, BREAK OUT, AND OPPORTUNITY WAS CONTROLLED BY MINNETONKA. BENILDE CAME OUT A DIFFERENT TEAM IN THE THIRD PERIOD AND STAYED ON FIRE THROUGH THE OT. HAD THERE NOT BEEN A MISSED GOAL THEY DESERVED TO WIN. WITH THE MISSED GOAL AN OT SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE BEEN PLAYED, GAME OVER 3-2 IN REGULATION!!

WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO SEE EDINA AND MINNETONKA PLAY AGAIN!
THEY ARE (WERE) THE TOP TWO TEAMS IN THIS THING IN MY MIND. I HAVE SEEN ROSEAU SEVERAL TIMES, DON'T THINK THEY QUITE MATCH UP WITH EITHER MINNETONKA OR EDINA. THEY ONLY PLAYED 3 GOOD TEAMS AND THEY WERE CLOSE, RED RIVER, BLAINE AND B. JEFFERSON. OTHER METRO TEAMS POUND ON EACH OTHER ALL YEAR.

If the play in question was with 4 or 5 seconds left in the 2nd, I was sitting just to the right of the net about on the goal line and it looked to me like it hit the post. Not saying it didn't go in but thats what I saw.

IT FOR SURE DID NOT HIT THE PIPE. WAS INSIDE THE PIPE ABOUT 1 FOOT AND HIT THE FLAT PART OF THE BACK OF THE RAIL AND SHOT STRAIGHT BACK OUT. COACHES KNOW NOW, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU DON'T.

IT WAS THE GOAL THAT SHOULD OF COULD OF HAVE BEEN! TOUGH WAY FOR KIDS TO LOSE.

Obviously they had a chance considering they only lost by one goal the time they played before. That isn't a very bold prediction saying that they have a chance.

Benilde beat Edina, Benilde beat Shattuck, Benilde beat Minnetonka. What's all the whining about Tonka being the better team. You boy's need to get over it. I was at the Benilde-Tonka game and Tonka did not deserve to win that game. Why? They were outscored 3-2, that's why. Minnetonka didn't play three periods and they paid the price.

Hats off to BSM, they came out strong in the 3rd and deserved the win.

It was really surprising to see Tonka lay back the way they did in the 3rd.

What's really sad is that Tonka played and beat 5 of the 8 teams in the tourney (CEC, Edina,Lakeville,Hill,BSM) by a combined score of something like 20-5 in those victories. They also "beat" Roseau in an early season scrimmage.

Just goes to show you, you have to win when it counts.

Good luck to BSM and all the teams at state. Should be some great hockey.

Just a few comments:

1. bsm #11 was wide open when he scored the OT goal. where was gardiner? tonka #14 had his guy and then some. not just my opinion, but those who've seen tonka play often, #14 is the best defenseman on that team.

2. borer's mother went to bsm. armstrong didn't lose him. he was always going to benilde.

3. Pauly didn't hand pick meyers. it was the other way around.

4. bsm#12 a hack? ask anyone who's seen benilde play. unselfish, smart, probably most unsung player on the team. watch him again. i bet you see it differently.

The shot did go in and came out. Everyone in our section saw it too. I am not a Minnetonka fan. I am actually glad that they lost. I think both the Gardniers are overrated and I think someone has done an excellent job promoting them. I do think BSM seemed very flat until the 3rd but they found a way to win and they moved on. Congratulations to both teams for a great season.

wildabouthockey - let the Gardiner thing stop bothering you. The WCHA seperates the men from the boys. If Gardiner is successful as a Badger then you were wrong, if he isn't - so what. I find it hard to believe Eaves and his staff would fall for some hype about a high school kid. They see something in Gardiner and will probably bring out the best of him in coming years.

Too bad the refs (and Tonka team) didn't see that puck go in.
