The stuff I brew in my basement hands down....just the right amount of fruit and hops...then I let it ferment for a REALLY REALLY REALLY long time.

No two batches are the same, however, most resemble good strong Belguim beer - usually about 8.5-10% alcohol by content. You can seriously sip one for two hours enjoy every last ounce.

I've been to the City Pages Beer Festival before, but has anybody been to the Arborfest Beer Sampling at Macalester? I just stumbled upon it this morning, but I guess it's been around for 8 years?

I like the idea of a smaller setting and the regional brewers. Just wondering if anybody's been, and if it's worth the trip?

As long as there's beer there it's worth the trip Govs, that's a no-brainer.

I generally stick to the local brews, Summit, Schell's, et al. During the tourney I almost exclusively stick to Finnegan's Irish Amber at the Liffey. Finnegan's is a local beer and 100% of the profits are donated to charity, check it out http://www.finnegans.org/. So you get to drink a beer and give to charity at the same time.

Wow... the great American brew may become the worst Belgian.

You couldn't pay me to drink the stuff, but I enjoy the holiday commercials.

The Wisdom of our Forefathers still carries on today! With the 4th of July only days away it could not be more appropriate than to share their wisdom with friends!

Happy Friday!!

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is

freedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have

demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the

year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli)

bacteria found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or

tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a

purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop

Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to

drink water and be full of sh*t.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service
