Goalie merry go round in the West Metro.
Blueblood, rumors abound in 218 but many posters there with on the ground insight
Come on no WM let’s hear those 218 rumors. I think Lee and Karl are of the grid right now.

Not sure about Karl, but I'm busy getting my retirement on. Besides, it's July and temps are in the 80's. Thinking about high school hockey? Nope.

Mahtomedi HS to HF: 48 miles
Rosemount HS to TG: 33 miles
Maht to HF is just a loop around 694/494, so the travel time isn’t too much worse. Still, that was a long distance to transfer! I knew a few of our Brooklyn Park association kids who ended up at Hill-Murray back in the day, and I thought was a crazy trip to make every day (about 22 miles). I guess as the metro area expands, so does the potential private school recruiting base. Haven’t some Cambridge kids played at TG and HM?

I think STA holds the records in this category.
In State - Pine CIty to Mendota Heights (70 miles)
Out State - Chicago, IL to Mendota Heights (406 miles)

Or Edina (Cheyenne, WY to Edina) - 798 miles
or Minnetonka (Dallas to Minnetonka) - 945 miles
I'm sure there is a lot more

Would be very disappointing for all these long distance transfers if the high school hockey season were to be cancelled.
(not likely, IMO, but it still could happen)

Parents are not together, mom lives in EP school district.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future, with the pandemic facilitating a more rapid move toward the acceptance of remote working arrangements, the need for a family to live in a certain corner of the metro for work commute reasons may be rendered meaningless. I'll be curious to see the impact this has in 2-3 years.

Whatever happened to telling a kid as a senior to stay where you are at? We (EP) have enough kids of our own. This goalie will come in and take a spot away from a EP kid. However, this is not about the kids. It is about stroking the slimy northern's ego.

I understand what you're saying and think it kind of stinks. On the other side of the coin, I don't blame the Hopkins kid for wanting to transfer and have a very good shot at state.
*The kid's spot he is going to take...kid may not have been eligible anyway. Have heard rumors he's having some personal issues that would preclude him from being able to play this season.

In summary the significant transfers are:
-Fechko from HF to Edina
-Hayes (G) from Hopkins to EP
-Olson (G) from BSM to HF
Are there others?

Apparently unresolved 218 situation , could take a while to clarify since several factors in play
Bound to be something happening on East Side , but need our forum friends there to comment
Several bantams moving out of their association territory . Most of them have been mentioned earlier on this thread . But not all.

ummmmm.... can we get a goalie transfer in Grand Rapids? Honestly not sure whoze in the pipeline to replace Clafton, but HTown shouldn't get all the elite talent wanting to relocate in the 218. With our bloated local government, I'm sure there's some sort of cushy job that we could come up with for a parent looking to start a new career. No experience necessary - if the kid is the next iteration of Hunter Shepard!

This is garbage...your shading a kid who grew up in Ep? There is no truth that he is ineligible and further neither parent of the transfer is living in EP..facts!

Yep, unresolved situation... If the rumors are true, then Hermansandbaggers become the overwhelming favorite in Class A.
I was rooting for Denfeld’s one year Window, but that could be all out the window. (No pun intended)

Even if true, I wouldn’t give up on Denfeld yet. Hermantown has chocked the last three years. Alexandria, Greenway and Mahtomedi have all done the “impossible “.

If you think Lee Smith is "slimy" for getting a transfer or two a year, what do you think of the private schools St Thomas, Hill Murray, Holy Family, Blake, Benilde, Cretin and Breck recruiting hard each year? What would your word be for these coaches? Just curious.

I’m not going to vouch for the recruiting practices of the other private schools, but it is rare for Blake, Breck, and SPA to admit students after freshman year. As a prospective student, you are generally limited to entering at the K, 5 and 9 levels. Yes, these schools obviously recruit players, but they aren’t poaching kids from other HS programs.
