Or less wide open, depending on your perspective. It’s looking more like a fight to see who gets to lose to Marshall. We’ll see if LDC can pull things together against the Tigers today, but they have been a mess lately.

Go figure... LDC is up 2-0 on Marshall after two. The lower portion of my rankings were already going to be a complete crapshoot this week, and will be even worse if that result holds.

Marshall and LDC tie 2-2. LDC carried more, really most of the play. Marshall hung around and managed to tie it up. Would imagine it feels like a good tie for Marshall and a bad tie for LDC.

I don't know how you can put Marshall anywhere BUT 1, since they haven't lost to anyone in the section yet. Luverne with losses to New Ulm and Marshall drops them below both of them. Litchfield's only section loss to date is Luverne. New Ulm's only section losses are to Marshall and Litch. Luverne's three remaining games against New Ulm, Marshall, and MN River will be telling, as will Hutch's remaining games against Redwood and Mound, to help determine the 4 seed, as these are the only remaining common opponent games these two have. How I see it right now:

1. Marshall
2. Litch
3. New Ulm
4. Hutch
5. Luverne
6. Windom
7. Willmar
8. Redwood
9. Worthington
10. Fairmont

These are my rankings. Not seedings. I don't care what happened in the past but after this weekend Luverne is the
Team to beat. Marshall was dominated by Lichfield.

I guess I’m curious what Luverne dominating ldc means? I mean ya they won 5 to 1 but ldc played a period and a half on the kill and still got 52 shots, according to the box score. I wasn’t there but looking solely at the box score I guess I would have to disagree with the statement that luverne dominated ldc on the scoreboard and play.

If Windom wins their remaining section games they could get the 4 seed maybe even 3.

Marshall 4-1 over Luverne confirms the question I had , not really, but some consideration. Luverne beating LDC 5-1 was a fluke, Fricke gets 3rd star. LDC rebounded by showing exactly what they are, absolutely dominated Marshall into a 2-2 tie. Marshall showed what they are, not built for the waves of rolling LDC, but capable of keeping the puck out and tying the game. So who’s the one seed and what about after that ? I’d say Marshall sweeping Luverne confirms we can throw out LDC’s loss as erroneous. As of today, the nod probably goes to Marshall on paper, but I think if you really take whose done what to who, despite the tie, my seeds would be

LDC
Marshall
New Ulm
Hutch
Luverne

This is about how most people would have predicted it, and despite the fact that a bunch of details tried to get in the way, I think the details actually prove it out. I suppose you can debate a bit, but it’s about as clearly divided by whose won and lost as it ever really gets.

I suppose Hutch Luverne 4 and 5 could be up for debate without a lot of tangible separation, maybe nod to Luverne with the win over Litch as hard evidence regardless of opinion on the matter.

I know Windom wants to be best of the rest and they pry get the nod over Redwood with the win earlier in the year, I would say they have the same capability of knocking someone off, similar talent relative to depth and strategy, and that playoff group would include Willmar cuz even when they’re bad they’re decent for around here.
