Cloquet has Andover at home and Duluth Marshall in Duluth. This week will ultimately decide who's 4, 5, or 6 seed. Elks, Rapids, and East locked into top 3 seeds no matter what happens in section year in and year out.alcloseshaver wrote:What is the report on the GR tie with Andover? I don't think GrandRapids looses elite talent early. They will be around next year as well. Also, the Indians have 2 elite young goaltenders. Plus, they have coach Klatt. Andover is south of Elk River so it would make sense by a map that Elk River stays in 7AA.

2 good games for the fans. I think Hermantown will win at home. The Indians I think will defeat Duluth East in Duluth. Grand Rapids has that top line and to great goaltenders, but Hermantown's got 3 great #1 lines and 1 Elite goaltender. As far as the East/Rapids game, I just don't think East has the depth and/elite goaltending. They've got coach Randolph though. And that a huge ad. +Rivalry game. Hmmmm. My head says Rapids, but my heart says East. All I know is that this game/fans/Crowd/media/ will be electric on this one. They haven't had a lot of success vs. Hermantown over the years. One thing this group has done though was get past East last year and Eden Prairie this year. The first period was a slopfest and Denfeld grabbed the early lead, but a scrum early in the second lead to a major penalty against the Hunters, and the Hounds scored twice. Kevin Smalley was not pleased. It was never really interesting after that, with the East cycle machine in full force and a lot of very nice saves by Benjamin LaFont to keep it somewhat close. East got there eventually, but will need a much stronger start to have a chance on Thursday.
Refs, both for the major penalty and another minor later in the period. Couldn't tell you if the major was legit or not; there was a scrum and both teams got double minors in addition to the major on Denfeld. I didn't see the call later in the period that really set him off; can't really make a call on that one, either.
