Or just northern?
How did the southern MN Viqueens do this year?
Also hockey did start a little farther north than sh.tties.

Say what? What do the Vikings have to do with anything?
And here's a news flash for you... hockey (ice) didn't "start" north of the cities. It started in Europe. There are good hockey towns north of the Cities, and there are good ones here... just don't claim that hockey "started" anywhere near any of them. That's just stupid.

I'll take LINO LAKES...if you glance through the Minnesota grown portion of LPH, LINO LAKES has as many or more players currently playing hockey above the High School ranks than any other town in the state, including the beloved Edina.
LINO LAKES = hockeytown Minnesota

I think the debate is easy to solve...
Let's look at the the body of work over decades of High School Hockey from the '40's to present:
Roseau
State Appearances - 31
Most Games Won @ State - 51
Most Goals Scored @ State - 290
State Champs - '46; '58, '59; '61; Broten Era; '90, '99; '07; '08 (?)
This little town of 2700, and an enrollment of around 400, has been competitive in every decade of high school hockey in this state. Competing against schools that are 4 to 5 times its enrollment, and puttin' a beating on them for 60 + years.
Roseau hands down is the City of Hockey in this state...

I don't recall Lino Lakes having a high school team.

I'm sorry. I misread the title of this thread... I didn't realize it was the city of HIGH SCHOOL hockey we were trying to pin down.
See, if we were talking about hockey in general, there is no debate... It's St. Paul. It's the only city in the state that has been home to every "major" level of hockey:
Youth (Johnson, Central-Highland)
High School (Johnson, Como, CDH)
College (Hamline, St. Thomas)
Juniors (Vulcans)
"Minor League" - IHL (Moose)
WHA (Saints)
NHL (Wild)
Hell... if Aldrich was a stone's throw to the southwest, St. Paul would have been home to professional
roller hockey (Blue Ox).
But since this thread is only about HIGH SCHOOL (I guess), none of that matters.

You might be right... I was never really clear on what the "Quad Cities" are. I guess now I know:
El Dorado, Camelot, Atlantis and Centennial.
